Creating a custom chassis? - Thirdgen89GTA - 07-28-2006

Anyone have experience with this? I'm going to try a project for my Batmobile.

Its a 1/10th scale replica of the 1989 Film car. 21" long and very cool looking.

However, the chassis is a pretty sorry excuse for one. The wheels cannot be changed, they were put on at the factory without the intention of every being replaced. The rear end broke and I never found parts for it again so I eventually bought some RC10 oval car parts and made a RC10 ball diff work for it. but its still a crappy design and not really useful. I've done some cad work before, and will probably do most of the design templates in cad.

I don't plan on cutting up the old chassis. But rather taking measurements from it and creating a new double layer chassis and using parts from other RC cars to fill out the rest of the drivetrain and steering linkages.
