1. Not sure
2. Hundreds if not thousands.

You can always just do it the old fashioned way, with a saw or dremel, but then you can't mill the parts like he did all awesome looking.

awesome!!! - redzebra24 - 05-07-2006

so it is a mill?

He used a mini-mill, which is a vertical lathe. It looks like a drill press but with an adjustble bottom plate that can be articulated in different directions. Its not terrible expensive about $500.00 and goes up from there. I found some at harbor freight, http://www.harborfreight.com/ just do a keyword search for "Mill".
Great place to find cheap tools.

I wanna see it take off from some sweet jumps and nail someone in the back of the head....we just better have the number for 9-1-1 handy.

One of my boys has a nasty habit of running in front of my RCs. I have taken him out on two occasions. Luckily he was not hurt in either. I hope nobody gets hit with that, your gonna break something for sure, and it aint gonna be the truck!

awesome!!! - PoPRC - 05-07-2006

I am suprised he used pullstarts for that. I bet you could rig up somekind of electic start like traxxas has.

harbor freight is sweet i have been there alot

would this work? http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=47158

awesome!!! - Czech-it-Out Graphics - 05-07-2006

that may work as long as u used a carbide endmill or something like that. My only concern with that would be that it would not spin fast enough to do a clean cut on most high grade aluminum

That might be a little on the light side. But the price looks good. Milling isnt easy. I would look around first. Here is a good site I found that has lots of info. Its geared towards CNC machining. But if you get into making your own parts they have info on retrofitting certain models so you can hook up your computer and do CAM work.

This micro mill might be better: http://www.grizzly.com/products/G8689

Hey Redzebra,
I found this one on ebay, and it looks to be a nice mill, with electronic input. Its reasonable price wise, but quality could be an issue.

EDIT: Nevermind I'm a dumbass, its just for the electronic input device not the whole mill.
