truck wont start - kevinF - 03-07-2006

I sold my other t-maxx to my friend and the engine hasnt been started for 3 1/2 months, and we went to start it today and it wouldnt start:mad:

it kept flooding w/o even priming, so I leaned it out to 4 1/2 turns out and still nothing...

does anyone know why this is happening?

thanks, kevin

vent line clogged/ no air coming out the pipe, igniter/plug is shot. too cold?

4 and 1/2???? that sounds really rich. i would say thats ur problem i thought factory specs are around 3 turns out. Also you probably want to change out the glow plug with a fresh one. and be sure ur using fresh fuel.

You might be too rich now. Did you check your LSN? Try richening it up first and if that doesn't help, then lean it out a bit. If something seems to be helping just keep either richening or leaning it little by little until it works.

well the plug is brand new and is igniting...it was about 37 degrees out when we went to start it, is that too cold to start a engine that hasent been started for 3 1/2 months?

its pushing it, just wrap the head with aluminum foil

o and be sure ur not getting it up to temp by leaning it out

ok will do, thanks.

but should I heat the motor with a hair dryer?

truck wont start - Traxxas_Junkee - 03-07-2006

yeah a hairdyer probally woulndt be a bad idea.

the truck needs to be at room tempature or better yet warmed up with a hair dryer. It will not start if the motor is cold. factory needles are HSN/4 turns out, LSN/flush.

Sounds like you are trying to start a cold motor and that's why it's not firing.
