Well what wilson told me to do and this really works amazing for me, i was having alot of trouble before, take a griniding wheel to the rubber and scuff it up good, then just brush the ground off rubber off. He said u defeat the purpose of dremeling the tires when u wipe them with denatured because it closes up the pores that u just opened with the dremel

Tire Glueing 101 - JOE - 03-06-2006

words of wisdom lol makes sense i will have to give it a try

Tire Glueing 101 - kevinF - 03-06-2006

im going to try that next time

Nice... Free Info without even being asked!!

Do youe ever use the rubber band technique? Putting rubber bands around the tire just after glueing to keep the tire firmly pressed into the wheel bead?

I've tried both ways and find the rubber band trick to work well. Only you need to wait about 10 to 15 minutes after the glue dries for the tire to come back to its original shape - since the rubber bands deform the tires alot.

Tire Glueing 101 - Ponch - 05-30-2006

Instead of rubber bands I use zip ties.

Tire Glueing 101 - Czech-it-Out Graphics - 05-30-2006

zipties?! dude use rubber bands or atleast electrical tape lol

Tire Glueing 101 - MX_KEVIN - 05-30-2006

I dont like rubber bands ever since I had a little boo boo and glued the rubber band to the tire Confusedlap:
I like fast drying glue. The glue will be dry before I get back to my starting point.

Tire Glueing 101 - joey - 05-31-2006

htf did you do that, the jc concepts bands work great but you have to be less liberal with the glue i think lol you dont need that much

jc c? Im talkin Office Max. It only took a drop to leave a nice chunk of rubber band on my tire.lol Im all better now and got the gluing down. Big Grin

Tire Glueing 101 - FreeRideFrosty - 05-31-2006

Heck anything is possible. I glued a buggy tire to my finger. LoL Part of the tire was on my finger, and part of my finger was on my tire.... sad day. (I'm definitely nocturnal)

Tire Glueing 101 - joey - 06-03-2006

i just did like 5 sets of tires kinda using a mixture of techniques i clean the beed out on the wheel then the tire, then i use use a green brillo cut small( easier to work with) and skuff the bead on the wheel then the tire , wipe them off with a dry rage to wipe away any access then glue outside then inside and use a band on the outside of the tire and one on the inside edge ( i use the jc concepts bands but tape, bands or zipe ties could work but i make sure i use two per tire) really keeps the bead tight, very little glue is needed.

Tire Glueing 101 - UE-Maxx - 06-08-2006

For outdoor, should I vent two holes in each tire or just one and should I also vent the rim?

Tire Glueing 101 - Czech-it-Out Graphics - 06-08-2006

2 holes in the rubber none in the rims

Tire Glueing 101 - UE-Maxx - 06-08-2006

Thanks, Mike.

That's gonna start an arguement.......

Tire Glueing 101 - slim - 06-08-2006

carnie gave me a set of wheels to run at rcp. i ran them and for the last heat, good thing i pre warmed up cuz all of a sudden a tire was SEVERLY out of ballance. he had 2 holes in the rim and appearntly when the guy before me washed them, got water in them and settled over night and caused a mud clot in the foam. had to refoam them....

Tire Glueing 101 - SLOW REVO - 10-30-2006

will super glue work?
or should i get ca glue

Tire Glueing 101 - Czech-it-Out Graphics - 10-30-2006

CA glue

Tire Glueing 101 - blktransam - 04-07-2007

I just mount them up and runa bead around the edge of the tire wheel...never failed me yet I have been doing it this way for years, hell I dont even ruff up anything just mount em up and run a bead on eac side takes about 10 mins total (not inclduing the dry time between the sides)

Tire Glueing 101 - BobWoodhouse - 06-04-2007

I usually
1) enlarge the holes already in the rims
2) select a tire/foam combo
3) trim any rubber-casting nubs off the tire where it would meet the rim
4) set the tire onto the rim nicely
5) use a thin piece of strapping tape (actually one piece of tape for the outer bead and one for the inner bead, but not at the same time) to make a nice uniform contact between tire and rim
6) use super thin "Bob Smith" CA glue (usually has a "store" label on it) -- it just seeps right in to the space between the tire and rim
7) let it set up and put a second bead of the CA glue on
8) do steps 5-7 again for the other bead

This might not be as quick as some ways.

I don't do the scuffing/cleaning.

I used to punch holes in my tires, but with these new ways of cleaning tires -- brush mounted in bucket, I just fill up my bucket with water till the water is even with the tops of the bristles, then I clean the tire without getting water up into the rim holes.

Tire Glueing 101 - slim - 06-04-2007

as of late all i do is denature the rim and tire and glue up... i never have a glue job fail.

Tire Glueing 101 - BobWoodhouse - 06-11-2007

I had a glue job fail this weekend using my technique. I will have to do something better now.
