Has anyone run the sirio .18 if so did they like it. Why did they stop making this engine?

Sirio .18 - Michowski - 02-02-2006

it was a decent engine. Had a great power curve on it. Discontinued because the manufacturer doesnt want to make it anymore.

There's supposed to be a real nice Sirio .20 in the works though...

Sirio .18 - Tex - 02-02-2006

it was disc. because the Sirio .23 was introduced.
I ran a Sirio.18 for 8 gallons and loved it. The revo that took second on the Jan.29th race was powered by a Sirio.18

I've had mine for since it's release, wasn't impressed Sad ,but the more tanks I ran, the more power it seemed to pickup. I've got less than 3/4 of a gallon on this puppy if even that and Im liking it alot more now-a-days. I've heard that they really open up at 1 gallon mark so we'll see. about it's dicontinuence, like Tex said, they released a drop in .23 for the Maxx I think for the same price or cheaper.

Sirio .18 - Traxxas_Junkee - 02-02-2006

My uncle has the siro .23 in his T-Maxx it flies, so much more power, but he wont listen to me, he cant figure out why he keeps twisting half shaft I told him to get CVDs but I guess hes too cheap...

Sirio .18 - Sh1nn3r - 02-02-2006

I found a new sirio 18 on ebay thinking about getting it.

Sirio .18 - MaxxGS - 02-02-2006

How much you paying off e-bay? I have a brand new in the original package Sirio 18 w/T-maxx header I'm thinking of selling. I :ugh: I'm thinking.

Sirio .18 - Sh1nn3r - 02-02-2006

Ill buy it from ya, i need an engine for my revo.

Sirio .18 - Tex - 02-03-2006

It's a good motor for the most part guys.

Max, you need more gas through that thing and keep trying to fine tune it everytime you use it.

I would have to recommend this motor, it treated me very well for a whole season.

Sirio .18 - thenewguy821 - 02-03-2006

I know Tex had around 9-10 gallons on a Sirio and it was still pretty reliable. Also, Lakemax had 11 or more gallons through his.

I read somewhere that it took some work to get the sirio in a Revo, which doesn't make sense to me since it is a small block, and was able to drop right in to a Maxx.

Sirio .18 - Michowski - 02-03-2006

newguy on the bottom of the case there are fins that stick out to much and wont let the motor get inside the motor mount. Those need to be ground down for the motor to be able to tighten down all the way.

Sirio .18 - Tex - 02-03-2006

sounds easy enough..... break out the dremel and it'll be all good.

Sirio .18 - Michowski - 02-03-2006

yup, in less then 5 minutes problem solved.

Sirio .18 - Tex - 02-03-2006

what about grinding the motor mount instead of the crankcase? it'd be cheaper to replace if needed.

Sirio .18 - thenewguy821 - 02-03-2006

Thanks for clarifying Ryan, I thought I read something about it, just wasn't sure what the problem was.

Sirio .18 - maxximum_44 - 02-04-2006

Anybody know a good clutch/flywheel combo for this engine?

Sirio .18 - Michowski - 02-04-2006

You can never go wrong with stock traxxas clutch and flywheel

Sirio .18 - Ponch - 02-04-2006

Integy 3 peice alu is what I'm running.

Sirio .18 - Tex - 02-06-2006

InteGAY sucks...... I had that 3 shoes clutch, lasted about 1/2 gallon. Stock Traxxas clutch will work good Max and it'll last the life of the motor in most cases.

Agreed. I finally got rid of the original one and put on my second 2 weeks ago. I had bought the truck back in June last year. The only reason I even changed it was because the spring was a little rusted and I was afraid it might break on me. Otherwise I would have put at least another gallon through it Smile.

Sirio .18 - MaxxGS - 02-06-2006

Your better off with the stock TRX clutch.

Like TEX said, "InteGAY sucks!"
