Okay now that I have a savage that needs some TLC

I have seen all sorts of vids on them.
How are they set up to do wheelies on call when you want it to?
Certain gearing I would think as well as motor HP would be a part of this.

This is all I want the truck for is around the yard and street riding and doing wheelies.

I know it would be wise to get the wheelie bar or make up one on my own.

Savage and Wheelies - Mr. Tune - 02-02-2006

I while back I had a .21 savage. I took out the .21 and added a mach .26. That alone gave me wheelies on comand with no other changes Smile.

Savage and Wheelies - Biodragen - 02-02-2006

Yeah my neighbor has one but the 25, it just does not repond like that very well.
We can get mini ones more like a hop with the front end.
I am looking to actually drive it like that for longer periods if I could.

So more torque is the key I think.

Savage and Wheelies - DAVEC-NITRO-RS4 - 02-02-2006

Gearing change is cheap and you can always undo it easily.

Savage and Wheelies - Biodragen - 02-02-2006

So what would be a good gearing to be able to accomplish this

Savage and Wheelies - Mr. Tune - 02-02-2006

Try going smaller on the clutch bell and or larger on the spur. That will effectively give you lower gearing, which is for acceleration (wheelies Smile).

Is it the HPI .25 in there?

Savage and Wheelies - Biodragen - 02-02-2006

nope no motor right now.
Looking into it now---thinking on a rebuilt HPI for it but I dunno.
I was also thinking on a Collari 30

Savage and Wheelies - Mr. Tune - 02-02-2006

Collari 30 should give wheelies Smile.

Savage and Wheelies - rocco79 - 02-02-2006

15 / 52 with a mach 26 will pop that thing up on command bro!

Savage and Wheelies - thenewguy821 - 02-02-2006

Look around, I think you will find that the Mach .26 or Sportwerks .26 are quite a bit cheaper than the Collari .30, and will have more than enough power to pull wheelies ALL day long. The SW and Mach are both escentially the same engine, the only difference being the SW has remvable inserts in the carb. Both are around $135

Savage and Wheelies - Biodragen - 02-02-2006

Yeah I would but one of those with no problem
but I was looking at a used one that has about 1/2 gal on it.

I know it has a 15t on it now but I have to count the spur which is all metal

Savage and Wheelies - Czech-it-Out Graphics - 02-02-2006

street tires will help also, and a new era models wheelie bar

Savage and Wheelies - RCDad - 02-02-2006

Mine used to wheelie like crazy with the k4.6 but since I put on the low COG tvp's and shock limitors it stays pretty much on the ground.

Savage and Wheelies - Biodragen - 02-02-2006

Czech

For tires I was going to use the wheels from my Mayhem ST since they are just sitting there.
They do great on the pavment and suck every other place. Why not use them! is my thought.

I had in mind the wheelie bar already---I also don't want to tear up the back end on this either.

Savage and Wheelies - Tex - 02-03-2006

Sounds like a fun project. The stock sportwerks rims/tires from the ST will be fine for bashing. Putting that smaller diamiter wheel/tire combo will also set the gearing for more torque. I'd get the SW.26, that motor is silly fast for $140

Savage and Wheelies - Biodragen - 02-03-2006

Oh yeah I am lookin forward to it.

See the kids faces
