The levatating thing is stupid. Its all in the angle he stands in relation to the camera and people. He is just standing on his Toe and the placement of his other foot coveres his other foot. in fact...

edit.. this is even better..

That seems to be a very nice trick. It is based on viewing angles and
is described as the "Balducci Leviation".
"The Balducci method involves positioning your audience about 8 to 10
feet away at a 45 degree angle. You need to keep your audience small so
they are within this field of sight.
This is a very restrictive angle trick and it is essential that the
angles are practised, preferably with a friend or in front of a mirror.
The Balducci levitation involves pretending to float off the ground by
going on to your tip toes on just one foot ( the one furthest from
their view ) while the nearest foot is raised a little off tthe
ground.
This looks fantastic as the foot on your tip toe is hidden by your
trousers , the nearest foot and the angle they are watching at. You
only rise a few inches off the ground but the impression is fantastic.
This trick is all in the presentation with you appearing to rise
slowly , wait for a second or two and then return to the ground
quickly so as the audience do not have time to figure the trick out.

IDK camaro....I have his show recorded and I can slowmo and his feet ARE off the ground....You could clearlly see the ground below him....

I know there is a "Trick" to it, but on the Street Magic show/CD, there is one shot of the "Levitation" taken from almost ground level (The one with the 3 girls watching). It is CLEARLY obvious that both feet are in fact off the ground, by 12 inches or more. If there is a way to rip a clip from a DVD, I can post that shot.

yeah, they dont show the 2 people pickin him up or the shows producers givin the girls 50 bucks each to act suprised

My favorite show is on tlc right now - SixVi6-Camaro - 01-16-2006

You can clearly see the ground below one foot and the heel of his other foot but not all thw eay under BOTH feet heel to toe. He is actually standing on his toe. Its an optical ilusion. If the camera was to move just a little off angle the whole ilusion would be given away completely. He is very carefull where the camera is and where the people stand making sure they are at the perfect angle. I've seen him do it on TV many times. He only gets 2-3" off the ground. If he has gone 12" off the ground that is NOT the same trick. That is probably BS with wire. I don't like the guy or his sideshow circus freak junk.

Say what you want john, don't hold it back!! j/k There is no real magic, no one can levitate, no one can make a girl disappear and a tiger appear, it's all smoke and mirrors to fool the masses!

dude, if anything that hurt your case. Cuz that looks soooooooo fake

My favorite show is on tlc right now - Michowski - 01-16-2006

dude all his tricks are fake like that. The real magic is trying to fool people into thinking its not fake. And do you know how they make stuff like big tanks that are chained down to 10,000lb concrete blocks dissapear? Its simple, they have 2 sets but one doesnt have a tank and they place a scarf over the camera with a small tiny black image of a the tank that makes it look like a shadow and the camera slides over to the other set with no tank. Its all just tricks done with mirrors and camera. I would only be impressed if he came to my house and did that trick right in front of me and I could slide a sword underneath his feet.

Either way, we all know its fake, but its cool to believe a little, cmon.

Here's the clip...

Levitate

And YES, I know it is fake, just pointing out that there is actually air under his feet. One link I found said that it is done by doing the Heel/Toe thing, then re-edited back at the studio to get the effect of levitation.

Also, in the course of being a Bartender for 6 years, I messed around a little with close-up magic. MOST of the tricks Blaine does in his videos, I could tell you exactly how they're done. There are a few that I have no idea about.

The guy just annoys me actually most magicians annoy me. Pen and Teller though.. now their magic is different and actually entertaining.

Penn and Teller are the $#!t

Nothing like going on live TV, and disproving "Faith healers" and Faking Drowning....

+1 john!! I watched one show where they taught you a trick but they did it in such a way that you laughed all the way through it, so in the end you learned nothing!

Yep, they did a show "uncovering" all of the "impossible" magic stunts. Notice in Blains levitation bit, the camera shot showing him all the way off the ground NEVER shows the faces of the "witnesses" while he does it. They go back and reshoot it with him on a rig. The butt in the corner of the shot is a body double (also a good movie) wearing the same clothes as the real people from the street who saw him do the toe-lift. Watch him setup for the toe-lift..he always looks over his shoulder checking the angle of his body to the viewers! Nothing too magical there.

Now close-up sleight of hand, that's real skill, in my book.
