For TUT's on some of that program I went here
http://www.pslover.com/

What you have is several different programs all rolled into one package.
These tut don't cover most of the other parts of the program but I would do a search on them and include the word tutorial in it.
see what you find that way.

As for a book to help you learn I would go with this one
Adobe Photoshop CS2 Classroom in a Book

Oh and I forgot to mention...that link gives TUT's on older versions too so it will be a while before the newer ones come out.
The tut's are all about the same but as they come out with newer releases it is the previous release with a few more options added.
So if you can use an older version---you just need to learn all the other goodies with the newer version.

The bookstore must has a "user guide" like one of those Idiot's Guide To..... type books? They have them almost every software.

I have been a professional PS user for 10 years. If there is anything you want to know just hit me with a PM or ask in this thread. The best advice I can give is just play with the program, profiency with photoshop will take about a year of practice. Books I would recommend in order of importance are:
#1 Realworld Photoshop CS2
#2 Photoshop Artistry for CS2 (This is more of a practice book with specific tutorials)
#3 The Photoshop classroom in a book books are pretty Good.
There are other books but most are more advanced. Also if you plan on doing alot of Digital photography, there are very specific working routines that most be done if shooting in a Camera Raw format, but more on that later.

Good Photoshop Websites (note that most tutorials can range over multiple versions of PS, so a tutorial that was initially developed for say photoshop 6 will work fine in CS2, just that the menu commands may have moved or have been upgraded.

One other thing, is your copy of photoshop CS2 a legal copy? Adobe has cracked the whip hard on piration. Photoshop CS2 now has an activation routine in it, that requires you to activate the software through their servers. If this is not done your copy will only run for about 30days then shut down. IF it is a illegal copy it will not activate at all and your MAC address will be recorded by them and you will be tagged. Be careful.

Practice makes perfect! Most of the stuff I have learned (I use PS7.0) came from good ol trial and error. Tuturials are a big help too.

It's so powerfull, it's seems you're always learning something with it. Even after years of use.

This is true, but it is alot easier than it was in the early days of photoshop! I started with version 2, which didnt have undo's. You had to make multiple copies of your work so that if you screwed up you didnt have to start over. I was so happy when adobe released version 3 because it had one undo!

One tip I can offer is make sure you have plenty of ram allocated to photoshop, it is a ram hungry program. This is done through the preferences pane under memory and image cache. Allocate if you can at least 50% of your system ram to photoshop without compromising you Operating Systems ram allocation. If you can also make sure you have a hard disk allocated to photoshop as a scratch disk. Scratch disks are used to store temporary file data while you are working on images. Note that by default photoshop automatically selects your main hard drive as a scratch disk. This is not good, as photoshop constantly writes to scratch disks and can cause file fragmentation on drives with other data on them. If you have an extra drive that you can partition into in 4 drives, make them into 2 to 4 GB in size and than allocate them to photoshop in the preferences pane under scratch disks.
