i like to cook, and im always looking for new ideas so, whats your favorite recipe?
i have some easy ones,
beer brauts_ boil uncooked brauts in beer, onions and paprika for an hour. thell be fully cooked and ready to reheat on a grill.
or for breakfast, when making waffles, substatute a 1/2 cup of milk with 3/4 cup of apple sauce and add 2 tbs of cinnomon.

or whats your tricks?
i use a gorge foreman grill to cook bacon. no spatter and even cooking.
if this tread catches on i can post up some easy recipies for mannicotti, double baked potatos, lasagna, or roasts and rubs.
what u got?

I bet the house smells good with brauts boiling in the beer along with the onions. LOL

Heres mine: Scrambled eggs with cheese, ham, jalapano cheese, onions, and whatever else I can find.

try chiwawa(sp) cheese. that stuff is killer. a little on the pricey side. $4-5 for a 2 cup bag. but for eggs and steak tacos, well worth it!

cooks! whats your recipe/tricks - firesprink281 - 12-11-2005

One of my tricks is to use Large curd cottage cheese instead of rocatta in my lasagna.
mmm..mmm good!!!

cooks! whats your recipe/tricks - Ponch - 12-11-2005

Hmm...I'll have to figure out what curd cheese (sounds alot like 'turd cheese' lol) is and see how it tastes. I don't like ricotta that much...Tastes weird to me.

Large curd cottage cheese is the stuff with the big lumps, not the smaller lumps. We do the same thing, Maxx.

Went to a party last night and this dip we made was a hit.

1 cup sour cream
1 cup mayo
1 12-14oz can of kernal corn, drained
1 small can of diced green chilis, undrained
8-12oz of shreaded cheese of your choice; the mexican blend is good
1 clove of fresh garlic, pressed
1/4 teaspoon chili powder, more if you like
squeeze of lime juice

serve with Frito scoops

garnish with sliced jalopenos

It is so good...

Jeez I feel like I'm watching Martha Stewart. Who started this thread?

sounds good!
here is a easy chip that is a big hit.
make some taco meat, then get the tostitos scoop corn chips and put them on a cookie sheet. in each one put a little refried beans( if you like it) then some taco meat, and cheese. back at 350 till cheese is melted. good little mini tacos.
or there is the old stand by, trisket pizzas. i lived on them for a while!!

One of our favorite BBQ meals is Pork Tenderloin Surprize Packages. This is a recipe that comes in the Weber grill manual with any new grill.

Pork tenderloin patty, pounded to thin
Center on the patty: slice of onion, slab of green bell pepper, thick slice of tomato.
bring sides of patty up and over contents to form a package.
Two strips of bacon form and X.
Place package on X and bring ends of bacon up and afsten over package with toothpicks.
cook indirect method for about 45 mins.
top with sliced cheese of your choice for last 5 mins.
SUPERB!

mmmmmmmm bacon! im going to try that one.
here is a good burger recipie.
2lb of ground beef add a-1 sauce, worcestershire sauce, minced onions, some fresh minced garlic, seson salt, and one scambled egg to hold it all together. toped with some mushrooms that have been sweeted in evoo and swiss cheese.
should make about 10-12 burgers depending on how big you make them.

Bill, that almost sounds like the old Claim Company Motherlode recipe. Just add a little ground ginger and some sherry to it. Top it with french fied onions along with mushrooms!

Let me get a few together... I know I have some good ones for dips and a couple for grilling and broiling. I wish I would write down a salsa recipe but I always just wing it...

Frito Pie ........(it's a texas thang)

1 Big Bag of Fritos, regular size (not scoops)

10 minute homeade chilli:
2 cans chili beans
1 can rotell (green chili's mixed with diced tomatos)
1 tbls of cayanne pepper (red pepper)
1/2 tbls salt
1/2 tbls pepper
1 packet of chili seasoning

mix (chili contents, not fritos) together in big pot on stovetop at medium heat for 10 mins.
if you don't want spicy chili then don't add the cayanne pepper.

put 1 cup fritos in bowl, pour chili over Fritos in bowl and top with shredded cheese.

Another kitchen tip for the lazy (ME).

If it can be covered, lined, wrapped, enclosed or anyway cooked with alum foil, it will be. Cleanup is simple. Just throw away the foil and the grime!

I hate scrubbing pans...

Can you line a George Foreman grill with foil and still cook bacon in it???

cooks! whats your recipe/tricks - Tex - 12-12-2005

George Foreman grills suck to clean. They sure do cook the food awesome though

cooks! whats your recipe/tricks - rocco79 - 12-12-2005

cooks! whats your recipe/tricks - rocco79 - 12-12-2005

It was mainly my girl who insisted like 3 times she could cook steak on there.... I like mines red in the center. Theres no way to do that on the GF.

Bad steak is still better than a hotdog!

I see. I thought GF was George Foreman, not Girl Friend.......

cooks! whats your recipe/tricks - rocco79 - 12-12-2005

G.f. Was the George forman.... My girlfriend was the one who insists on using that thing to cook.

The best thing my wife makes for dinner is reservations!!!

Kids, don't tell your mother I said that. She really is a great cook and takes wonderful care of us "three little pigs".
