Got bored, and it's snowing so I made these;

Sorry for the blurry pics, didn't want to take anymore tonight. It was out of a clear box (flexible platic with blue rubbery lid IDK...) so I cut it out, and used my mini torch to heat up the plastic to get the bend in front. Then I cut out the peice that has the wheel nut over it, and used the torch again to get it flexible enough that I could bend half of it forward and half back. Drilled holes, and put screws in. For the place where it mounts to the truck, I drilled holes the size of the round part past the threaded part, and put the pin and hex on after that as a spacer. Nut on after that. Then I disconnected the front drive shaft, except the one cup that has the two pins that make the brakes work, I took that off my removing the eclip which I launched into the stratosphere lol...So hopefully this'll work, seems good to me. Let me know and if your truck has skis feel to post... Smile

you've got a lot of time on your hands, but it looks good

Revo Completed Ski Pics!!! - Ponch - 12-03-2005

Yeah, I do don't I.....Thanks. = )

Very nice handy work! much cheaper to make them yourself although you are going to need tires in the rear with a lot larger block tread to get around in the white stuff with skis in the front.

Revo Completed Ski Pics!!! - Ponch - 12-03-2005

Yeah, I know, I just don't have the money to get paddles right now.

Revo Completed Ski Pics!!! - Traxxas_Junkee - 12-04-2005

i think im going to have to take the dy grinder to an old tub of mine. lol matt how is your street? if i come over today is there going to be snow anywhere, if not maybe u should come over here again, because my driveway is loaded, i was out last night, it was fun, but then u know what happened, so im gonna get to LH and pick up a spur or two and get a throttle return spring

Revo Completed Ski Pics!!! - Traxxas_Junkee - 12-04-2005

how did u attach the support to the actual ski? pop rivets?

Revo Completed Ski Pics!!! - Traxxas_Junkee - 12-04-2005

anybody think that stock maxx tires in the back would be good for skis, if i ever get some?

Revo Completed Ski Pics!!! - Ponch - 12-04-2005

They were screws and nuts to attach them...And if I could mabye um...use some 2 of your stock maxx tires kyle? THey'd work great I think.

Revo Completed Ski Pics!!! - Ponch - 12-04-2005

Well, found out that they don't work at all. I think the problem is that I made it so that the skis could swivel around, and now they just flip over ....SO I have to figure out how to make them stay put.

Revo Completed Ski Pics!!! - Ponch - 12-04-2005

Alrighty, found out that these DO work, I needed more snow, and also the bend up in front wasn't high enough and was getting snagged on stuff. I have to make these out of metal now though, since I have broken both parts of the skid, the skid and the mount.

If you turn the tires around, they sort of make paddles.

theyd be better than what matt has, he has slicks, and then the bowtie, kinda sorta things

Revo Completed Ski Pics!!! - FreeRideFrosty - 12-04-2005

I plan on making a nice set out of plastic and aluminum. I think I am going to rig up some sort of a spring so that they can tilt down a bit as they run things over but then tip back up... should be cool... nice job for quick though.

(As for being cheap I also plan on just running stock maxx tires backwards)

Revo Completed Ski Pics!!! - Notochord - 12-04-2005

revo2k wat are the sizes of those pics???

Revo Completed Ski Pics!!! - Ponch - 12-04-2005

IDK what you mean lol...

Revo Completed Ski Pics!!! - Notochord - 12-04-2005

well i just got my BL system back, and i was thinking whats the point of getting it back and not being able to run it. so i also made ski's and but i went the Plexi Glass and Wood route. so ya here are the pics

the front is a little to high up but w/e. i havent tried it yet because i glued the wood to the plexi glass so the bottom will be completely smooth. and i still only have the onroad tires. tell me what to think.

Revo Completed Ski Pics!!! - north_shore_racer - 12-04-2005

make more holes drilled so you can adjust the front height. also i have some crappy old tires from a RS toy that u might be able to cut and slide over ur street tires, i can talk to u later bout it and figure out if u want me to bring em to skool tmo. they lookd good though, my other idea was to make some out of the box of an xmod that when i get bruces revo i will be trying.

Revo Completed Ski Pics!!! - Traxxas_Junkee - 12-04-2005

thats cool, what notochord did with the plexi glass, i might be able to get my hads on some, notochord i think that maybe u should try to get something else on there besides the wood, besides not looking all that great they also might not hold up real good in the snow cuz they might worp. but otherwise nice job Smile

Revo Completed Ski Pics!!! - north_shore_racer - 12-04-2005

ya a piece that small prolly wont warp and he could always just seal it in worst case....

Revo Completed Ski Pics!!! - Notochord - 12-05-2005

could u guys see the pics of my ski cause i tried looking at them from school and it didnt work??

Revo Completed Ski Pics!!! - Traxxas_Junkee - 12-05-2005

i can see them

Revo Completed Ski Pics!!! - Ponch - 12-05-2005

Yeah, I could see them. Just next time you want to host pics, go to photobucket.com and make an account, they take alot less time to see (on the site you're on now, it takes forever to show up). Photobucket is what I use for all my pics except for some I put on the gallery here.

Revo Completed Ski Pics!!! - 7THGENDMAN - 12-06-2005

Would you guys like me to just stop and pics you up a set of ski's from Jim's hobbys in McHenry??? He had like five pairs the last time I was in....

Revo Completed Ski Pics!!! - Ponch - 12-07-2005

Sure....why not.....Go for it.
