REVO axle transplant - DO-U-MAXX - 08-22-2004

As some of you may have read, I am trying to adapt the axle from the revo to the t-maxx. This may not have crossed some of your minds but I tend to get bored and am constantly looking for something new and challenging to do.
Although it may not be that challenging after all. I am a short while away from installing my first one and I did have to do some dremel work and I may have to do some lathe work but I do not think too much. I will tell you one thing, these axles are HUGE compared to the stock t-maxx ones. Clearance is not an issue in the A-arms or between the shocks its just using some old t-maxx hardware and adapting that to the new axle. I will post some pics as soon as I get the first one done (as all I have is one revo axle anyways Cool )

ok here are some pics (sorry about quality, I hate this camera at work) so you can see the differences in the size of the axles.
The top is obviously the REVO with the T-maxx ends installed and the bottom is a standard T-maxx

I had to make a new half of the u-joint as the revo uses pins and e-clips which are too long to fit in the T-maxx. Both cups on the REVO axle are wrong to fit the T-maxx as well so I had to use those off the original axles. I made two new pieces to fit the revo u-joint to the T-maxx cup and spindle, and they seemed to turn out really nice. Check it out.

I had to also remove some material in the original cups to allow maximum rotational travel given the larger size of the REVO ends. It will go in the truck tonight and after my new servo comes, I will get to run it. Can't wait to get the other three done.

here are the installed pics. There is no rubbing with the stock arms and the way I have the suspension setup. I am not sure about the RPM arms if they are too thick and may cause contact. I will have to get the remaining axles and try it I guess.

and a comparison on the truck

what's the weight difference? I don't think the weight would be a problem, just wondering
