What a GREAT bunch of racers! The hurricane scared a bunch of racers
away but those who did show up made the best of it. It was a pleasure
hosting this event. Can't say enough good about the racers who braved
the storm for some Monster Truck racing action!

Thanks guys. I just wish "ya'll" had been there also.
Bruce

US MT Nationals results - DAVEC-NITRO-RS4 - 09-26-2005

ok. Nice finish! That must have been a great racing experience!

US MT Nationals results - satoch - 09-26-2005

It was a very educational trip and I got to meet, and make friends with, a lot of the pros.

Actually, Slayden ran, and will be running in the future, a black wing that I designed out of pint Dimitri vodka bottles. (No kidding) You'll see it in pix on the TM powered stock chassis Revo he ran in the Pro MT class.

I told them all about the new LH track and everyone is excited to come check it out. Several guys want to come here to race this fall/early winter yet.

US MT Nationals results - DAVEC-NITRO-RS4 - 09-26-2005

I've had a few ideas inspired by vodka bottles, but they were mostly bad ideas!!

It will be great to see the finished LH's and the racers it attracts!

US MT Nationals results - snakebite46 - 09-26-2005

It would definetly be nice to see some of the west coast guys come to IL for some racing. Seem like a bunch of cool guys.

US MT Nationals results - Michowski - 09-26-2005

that would be kewl if roy and some of the traxxas guys come here to race. Definatly think it would be a great time. Man is that new track open yet. Theres literally hundreds of people waiting for it lol.

US MT Nationals results - MaxxGS - 09-27-2005

Good job Bruce. What engine did you run in your Revo?

US MT Nationals results - satoch - 09-27-2005

I ran a fresh TNT Mods OS .18TZ http://www.tntmods.com , a Hyper7 38mm flywheel (thanks Lance!), Ofna aluminum shoes w/1.0 springs, a Racers Edge 17t narrow clutch bell, and a 38t spur. I locked the truck in first gear so it was a single speed. P1's w/40 wt, white/green springs, 30k diff lube, Pythons on Hurricanes

I was thinking about this last night.....as Bruce attended a major event and placed well he certainly ranks as one of the serious Chicago based RC racers in off road. And he's connected to this board (and others I'm sure).

My questions is this, How many "pro" level racers are in Chicago, and how many of them are hooked up to an Inet community like this one, and/or is Chitown RC "THE" RC forum where the best offroad racers are? Or do most RC "pros" not take the time to participate on boards, or are there just not very many "pros" in Chicago? That's what I was wondering..... and I know that's more than one question.

US MT Nationals results - Tex - 09-27-2005

First, Bruce is not "pro" , but he is very serious about racing.

There are a couple sponsored drivers that post here.

"most" pro drivers post at the s-grid message boards.

And yeah, alot of the pro drivers talk on message boards. the boards and rc'ing go hand in hand IMO

US MT Nationals results - DAVEC-NITRO-RS4 - 09-27-2005

So how big is the "semi-pro" class in the Chicago area?

US MT Nationals results - Tex - 09-27-2005

define "semi-pro"

does that mean you have some sponsors but you don't race for a living?

"pro" means your job is to race and you get paid pretty well for it.

There are numerous (like 20) "semi pro" sponsored drivers in the chicagoland area. That's just an estimate. I'm not too sure if there are any "pro" drivers.

Then you have the "amature" racers which is what most of us are. If you race all the time and you are half way decent then your an "amature" in my book.

US MT Nationals results - satoch - 09-27-2005

I'd agree with Tex, I'm not a pro! LMAO!! Have you ever raced with me?! LOL!! 'nough said.

I also agree with the rest of what he said. I think until we have a magazine based in this area we won't have any/many truly professional drivers in the Midwest. We have to market ourselves via the boards and by travelling to the East/West/South coast races.

This will get the manufacturers familiar enough with us as a viable market worthy of sponsoring races. I started the ball rolling this weekend by talking to reps (not just drivers) from Traxxas, Byron's, Majestic Bodies and RD Racing Products among others.

I've got them interested in LH but Bernie has got to get that damned thing built. It should be fairly easy to lure a good number of pros here for a spring race if the marketing starts now. I learned that it takes about 4+ months, and a lot of money, to properly organize and promote a national event. Maybe it could be the grand opening event.

US MT Nationals results - PoPRC - 09-27-2005

That would be cool! Not like my son and I are going to go pro or anything, we have yet to go to a track and see if our little truck will even complete one lap! But it would be cool to see pros go to LH; certainly would make it exciting to watch races. Tex that S-Grid site is nice but very robust. There is almost to much info to navigate.

US MT Nationals results - ATA_Thrash - 09-28-2005

In motorcross ure considered a pro when u place well in enough local events and the AMA gives u a pro card that allows u too run in the national events. Kinda like the pro series u cant run the national unless u do well enough in the regional events. So if u can make it to the big show i would say ure a pro even if your not employed or a factory driver. Looks like fun Bruce glad u had a nice time!

US MT Nationals results - destroy_my_revo_15 - 09-28-2005

it would be interesting to have a national event @ LH but i agree it does still need to be built.
