ur driving style wont ruin ur diffs, ur bashing style will tho

1-2 hours of a window is BS u must have something way off either low to lean or top too lean and ur compensating with the other needle, get the low set and then dial in the top and you shouldnt have to touch it anymore

Three Q's Ponch....

1. How tight are your rear brakes??? Do the lock up? if so Maaaaybe thats it... Doubtful though...

2. Could the rear bulkhead be screwed up?? I mean if its outta spec that could be the problem....

3. Are landing on power?

Better Carb for WS7II - Czech-it-Out Graphics - 10-05-2006

the only thing i can see being a problem with the rear diff thing is that:

your bulk head is worn out

your bearings are shot

you still didnt grease the gears

or its not really shimmed well

did you end up getting just a new ring or did you get both ring and pinion gears?

Not sure about the bulkhead, that could very well be the problem.

Bearings all feel smooth

Greased the gears with a nice little tube of AE black grease

And you shimmed it lol

I didn't get a new ring or pinion, I had another set laying around I threw in there.

Rear brakes never lock up, only the fronts. Rears get about 75% I'd say.

Once again, not sure about the bulks.

Not landing on power, or at least not trying to.

I have another set of rear bulks, when I go in to fix the diff again, I'll switch it out.

Change the bulkhead.. then reshim.. It you can set a cb you can shim a diff

Stick a peice of paper in there?

Better Carb for WS7II - Mr. Tune - 10-05-2006

You still use paper to shim a cb?

Better Carb for WS7II - Ponch - 10-05-2006

Mr. Tune Wrote:You still use paper to shim a cb?

Yeah, I do that and then double check that it feels fine by hand. Otherwise I end up setting it too far out and strip the CB.

I love B-Main hobbies! The prices rock compared to amain! I need the 43T ring and 13t pinion, right?

http://tiltyard.com/bmainhobbies//catalog/index.php?cPath=25_54

$20 and $7!

Better Carb for WS7II - rocco79 - 10-05-2006

No you dont put paper in there! You dont know what the proper amount of play feels like? Id say just slightly tighter than a cb....
BTW
your welcome!

( for bmainhobbies...)

lol I was kidding about the paper...

Ok when I go to shim it I'll see what I can do....

Placing an order tonight from B-main, anything else I should get while I'm there? I'm running white springs in all corners, should I get the blue ones? I see more people running those.

I got like $100 to play with right now, but I don't want to spend more than I should.

Will a 777 bumper fit on my 7.5?
And uh....

http://tiltyard.com/bmainhobbies//catalog/product_info.php?cPath=25_105&products_id=983

I need some upper arms....Will these work? I'm supposed to get 3x40mm but all I can find is 3x38.

Better Carb for WS7II - chickenfarmer3 - 10-05-2006

dude, i have some of them light blue springs in my box, they are extras. u can have them.

Better Carb for WS7II - Ponch - 10-05-2006

Oh and I was thinking, if I changed clutch springs so it wasn't so snappy would that help too? What do you guys think with alu shoes, .9,.95, or 1, or 1.1?

Better Carb for WS7II - rocco79 - 10-05-2006

1.0's

Better Carb for WS7II - joey - 10-05-2006

use carbon shoes then, they dont grab as hard as the alum, plus you will save money becuase they wear better

Better Carb for WS7II - Ponch - 10-05-2006

How much will some decent carbon shoes run me $?

Better Carb for WS7II - Czech-it-Out Graphics - 10-05-2006

kyosho shoes are about 20 bucks, run those unless you wanna pick up the TTR flywheel and the AE white shoes and springs, the wholes setup is prolly cheaper and it rocks

Better Carb for WS7II - rocco79 - 10-05-2006

if you want the set up that mike is talking about lemme know ill hook you up for like with alotta stuff

Better Carb for WS7II - snakebite46 - 10-05-2006

I got Mugen shoes and springs going for sale real soon. Have to check pitbox to see if I still have Mugen flywheel and collet.....Look for it in BST soon. Along with a huge sale. =)

Better Carb for WS7II - Ponch - 10-05-2006

Messing around with my old gears practicing shimming, do I want 0 play at all, or just a hair? I have 2 brass shims (thicker) and 2 silver shims (thinner), right now, if I throw both brass on the ring side and both silver on the other side, it just barely has any play. 1 brass and 2 silver on the ring side and 1 brass on the other side and there is no play at all, but not hard to turn the gears either.

Cool.

And I should say this more often but thanks for the help guys, I really appreciate it.

Better Carb for WS7II - Czech-it-Out Graphics - 10-05-2006

u want some play, just a tick or so

Better Carb for WS7II - snakebite46 - 10-05-2006

All shoes and springs are NIP just so you know.

Better Carb for WS7II - Ponch - 10-05-2006

Should there be any side-to-side movement of the diff when the case is together?

Better Carb for WS7II - Czech-it-Out Graphics - 10-05-2006

no none
