add that to the list, the stocker will work but it's well worth the $19 to upgrade.

This a good replacement engine for stock t-maxx 2.5 - mikecooper - 02-14-2006

I have to add this to the list too then, since it is needed for the muffler

This a good replacement engine for stock t-maxx 2.5 - mikecooper - 02-14-2006

You will also need a glow starter since you won't be using the EZ starter anymore...

This a good replacement engine for stock t-maxx 2.5 - Traxxas_Junkee - 02-14-2006

you mean cheezy start? LOL even when i had ez start i used a regular igniter too, it started the truck faster that way, i thought

This a good replacement engine for stock t-maxx 2.5 - mikecooper - 02-14-2006

I know I need a glow starter, I figured that out when looking at the engine.

This a good replacement engine for stock t-maxx 2.5 - maxximum_44 - 02-14-2006

I love my cheezy(EZ) start. Starts (almost) everytime & no missing skin between the webing of my fingers. That CVRX .18 is strong enough to haul the extra 3.8 oz. the ez start IMO. I shedded some weight by replacing the reverse with a foward only conversion, and replace the hinge pins And ball studs with Titanium ones. I also got rid of the stock gas tank & battery box.

This a good replacement engine for stock t-maxx 2.5 - mikecooper - 02-14-2006

is there a version of the engine that is setup for easy start, or do I have to buy a conversion kit, or convert it myself?

This a good replacement engine for stock t-maxx 2.5 - RobH - 02-14-2006

There is no cheesy start conversion for the CV-RX, a company used to make one but they went out of business. Your only options are pull start and bump start... there MIGHT be a tiger drive adapter for it (starting the motor with a drill)

The key to pullstarts is pre-heating the motor.

This a good replacement engine for stock t-maxx 2.5 - mikecooper - 02-14-2006

what is bump start?

This a good replacement engine for stock t-maxx 2.5 - RobH - 02-14-2006

mikecooper Wrote:what is bump start?

starter box like what Squirrel (Tommy) was using for his buggy. You can't bump start a maxx.

This a good replacement engine for stock t-maxx 2.5 - mikecooper - 02-14-2006

ok thanks, guess I am stuck with pull start then Sad
so you use pullstart? on the SM that is

This a good replacement engine for stock t-maxx 2.5 - FreeRideFrosty - 02-14-2006

I had that motor... I never had a problem with the PS.

yup

This a good replacement engine for stock t-maxx 2.5 - mikecooper - 02-14-2006

does anyone know if this engine is any good? I am looking at this one more then the other because I don't need to cut anything to make it fit in, and it works with easy start. http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXHLW0&P=ML

This a good replacement engine for stock t-maxx 2.5 - FreeRideFrosty - 02-14-2006

NOT Worth the extra money. Go with the CVR-X. It is more than enough motor and at half the price. I had it and it was a great motor...

If thats worth $100+ to you, then yes.

but with my luck, I will cut it wrong, and it will be garbage then. The TM you don't need to cut at all.
here is the link of how to install the CVR-X into the t-maxx 2.5 http://www.misbehavin-rc.com/pit-lane/motor-swap/tm-motor-swap.asp

RobH Wrote:If thats worth $100+ to you, then yes.
All the stuff I would have to buy to get the other motor to work is at $147.25 plus the glow igniter.

I cut the shaft on my first CV-RX WAYYY to short, and it still worked fine.

I still say your better off with the cv-rx.

This a good replacement engine for stock t-maxx 2.5 - FreeRideFrosty - 02-14-2006

I agree with Rob...

This a good replacement engine for stock t-maxx 2.5 - mikecooper - 02-14-2006

I just have the feeling I will ruin it, are you good at cutting them now Rob? if so, maybe I will have you do it, so i don't screw it up.
