The homework was unclear. I asked Charlie to clarify it, then I will start in on it.

Not much of a preview of is what to come, but this is what I am working on.

I am still a little undecided on what to do in the back.

The General Paint Thread - slim - 03-01-2007

Smile

Chrome or silver? Looks like a cool concept, now to wait for the colors. :joy:

The General Paint Thread - UE-Maxx - 03-01-2007

Spazstix chrome.

The front is going to be yellow and white.

Middle will either be blue streaks or blue marble and I don't know what to do with the back.

Speaking of spazstix, how do you guys get the paint from the bottle to the color cup? The paint always like runs down the side of the bottle.

steve how many coats of lmf do u use? looks like 3 or so light coats? Id go atleast 5 makes life easier lol

Dave got the matting, nice stuff much tackier than the foam crap too Thanks!

The General Paint Thread - DAVEC-NITRO-RS4 - 03-02-2007

right-o

The General Paint Thread - Obsessive R/C - 03-02-2007

+1 Nothing worse than lmf that is too thin

That's 4 lighter coats.

I'll go with 5 or more next time, thanks.

Well tried that new matting for the Carbon fiber, to me the squares are just too big, I think ill stick with the foamy stuff for now Smile

The General Paint Thread - DAVEC-NITRO-RS4 - 03-04-2007

It is a very well defined pattern versus the puffy stuff. The hunt continues for the best CF template!

The General Paint Thread - Czech-it-Out Graphics - 03-04-2007

lol for sure, I think Charlie B made up a vinyl one that looks more like real CF

The General Paint Thread - DAVEC-NITRO-RS4 - 03-04-2007

If someone could come up with a rectangular punch, I have smooth vinyl shelf liner that is flat, and could be punched into the cf pattern. I though about trying to "square off" a piece of round brass tubing to make a punch. we'll see...

The General Paint Thread - Czech-it-Out Graphics - 03-04-2007

i think he had it so it looked like a staircase pattern, kinda like a zig zag

The General Paint Thread - Obsessive R/C - 03-04-2007

Use a vinyl cutter & plot out an angled grid

The General Paint Thread - Obsessive R/C - 03-05-2007

Any idea of what to charge for a 1:5th scale multi color (not to intracate)??

The General Paint Thread - Czech-it-Out Graphics - 03-05-2007

i would say tack on atleast 40 to what u would normally charge just for the materials alone

The General Paint Thread - Sh1nn3r - 03-05-2007

Or you can go tell him to get lost or go light yourself on fire, that way you can start on my next body.

The General Paint Thread - Obsessive R/C - 03-05-2007

I'm working on yours right now....but I could always put it aside and finish a different one...

The General Paint Thread - DAVEC-NITRO-RS4 - 03-05-2007

At least with the 1/5 scale you can bring out the touch-up gun and shoot high volume quicker.
