My thoughts and prayers go out to all those affected by this horrible diaster.

But as I watch the news this morning, something turns my stomach. How can these people Loot and steal big screen TV's and non essential items. They are stealing TV's but have no homes, doesnt make sense to me at all. I can understand taking food and items needed for survival. The main thing that turns my stomach is seeing the video of National Gaurd have to pull its helicopters from the SuperDome due to the fact that people are shooting at the ambulances and helicopters. Just makes me sick......

Sorry Rant over.
Sorry rant just getting going.....

The fricking criminals. And don't tell me these are just desperate "good people". The guys that went out ARMED, looking to take what they wanted are crooks. They have moved into the dry homes of those who evacuated and rationalize it as ok becuase they didnt' or couldn't get out. Instead of joining the 15,000 refugees in the Dome, they just kicked in a few doors and windows and made the best they could out of it. And I agree. I can empathize the looting of the food mart, but TV's, shoes, etc. Come ON. CROOKS!!! And they're shooting at the police while they loot. These aren't good people. they are opportunists. And they will be the ones claiming police brutality and inhuman treatment if the Military come sin to clean them out, which they will soon.

While good people were boarding up their homes and heading out, these scumbags were looking where they were going to strike first when all hell broke loose. And when it did, they went straight to the gunshops and loaded up, literally.

I for one will be thrilled to see the Air Cav show up in attack helicopters and "dispurse the crowds". They should put New Orleans under marshall law, let the Mil take control, get ALL the people out of there, for their own good, reestablish control and then decide if it is worth saving.

Maybe a NEW New Orleans a little higher above sea level should be considered. Let nature reclaim the swamp. It was there first.

I'm done.
I just read they have confirmed a Chinook Helicopter was shot, and a gaurdsman was also shot. Then a few ambulances where tipped over and generators where stolen from relief centers.

All I can say is WTF.
Gotta love the mentality of people... Human bags of crap...
Wow....I have so much to say and not enough time to type it all.......

I cannot believe what this storm did to that region, complete anarchy. Also it's not just NO, it's all through Miss. people are acting crazy.

I think the mindset down there right now is "survival of the fittest"
WTF IS THIS WORLD COMMING TO. Gas prices through the roof, people begging for help and then out of anger shooting anything that moves or tries to help them. People down there screaming for help and taking anything they can get there hands on. WERE THE HELL IS OUR PRESIDENT AT? HAVING SOME MORE TALKS WITH ALL THE FELLOW LEADERS? I SAY GET OFF YOUR STUPID LAZY ASS AND GET BACK TO THE WHITE HOUSE AND DO YOUR JOB.

And did anyone notice most if not all his talks since sunday have been from his own ranch in texas? Why doesnt he send help down there, get all the oil we've been saving for times like this and fix the gas prices. It drives me crazy to know he can sleep at night knowing whats going on. If it were me i would be taking boats and getting the trapt people and bringing them to shore. Theres so much more these people can be doing besides waiting for the water to go down. I cant stand "W" right now. Bring out troops home and focus on fixing our country. Its not worth fighting to keep the "world" safer when our country is going down the drains every 2 seconds. At least give these people some directions on what to do and were to go. I dont think a lot of people will survive for much longer without food and water. WERE IS OUR GOVERNMENT?
Mich... Very well said!!!!
Hopefully the shooters get capped in the head by the cops/military, then there will be 1 less dirt ball roaming the streets. Oh yeah, +1 for Mitch's statement.
well on another note theres 10's of thousands of national guards from every state in the country on there way over there. They also now got swat teams on the ground with rifles and heavy fire arms responding to anywere were theres gang activities and people just being dumbass's. The funny thing is that this is just what the states are doing to help out, weres the government at? Every state has signed out hundreds if not thousands of nation guards and coast guards to go to those 2 states and deliver food and water and help with rescue efforts.

And on another note our president is planning on visiting the site on friday to stall from him taking further actions to do something to help. Talk is cheap, actions will always speak louder then words.
Well lets all hope that all the movie stars that feel the need to tell us all to "give" money to indoneasia when the tsunami hit get off the over paid liberal asses and start helping out in this counrty for once!!!!!

It seems like if there is a problem in a forgein land the famous will jump at the chance to get there name or picture involved with it and helping . But if its a fellow american in need our famous dont seem so quick to help. THAT makes me sick that we (as amercians) will step over our fellow countrymen to help a forgeiner.

I know that ive never donated money to anything but i will for this.

God bless America.
well the looting is happening because the only people that could not get out of the gulf cost areas are the people living in poverty. New Orleans have over 30% of the population living in poverty. They are poor, hungry, totally homeless.. hell totally cityless at this point and living knowing that what little they had is completely gone. From Poverty down several rungs to fight to survive. I don['t know that they hell someone with no home is going to do wiht a TV but its their chance to get what they can't have.

Now the idiots that are shooting at helicopters, buses, and boats are complete idiots and should be shot on the spot.
I watched a general in an interview today say that there are 4 Navy vessels, a huge military force, national guard, and an assortment of relief efforst waiting outside the area because they do not want to send them in if the area is so dangerous.

I shared the questions that the interviewer had as to when will we see a military presence? The general was quite a politician (answer for everything) he said that there is a huge relief effort underway but the media has centered only on the looting, killing and not on the military effort to help.

One thing he said that amazed me was how difficult it was for them to reach the pockets of those stranded, and yet the media seems to be able to find their way everywhere. I find it very difficult to believe that with modern military equipment anyplace would be difficult to reach. I'm under the impression that they do not want to unleash a blood bath with hostile civilians firing at soldiers threatening their newfound wealth.

There is a story on NBC5 I just read of a Chicagoan holed up in an apartment afraid to leave. He has said that they are bringing the elderly out into the street, covering them with blankets and leaving them to die. The police came by, took a picture, and continued to drive. To be truthful, I would not want to be a cop in that area tonight. This Chicagoan said you cannot believe what goes on at night and there are soo many dead bodies in the area its unbelievable.

Many religious people at work are calling this an act of god on a city which has grown into a place with no morals. I don't share their beliefs but this has amazed me that people can so quickly turn from neighbors to killers. It reminds me so much of the Rwandan massacre.
Reading NBC5 this morning, the police are unable to enter the convention center. They sent 8 11-man teams but they were beaten back 30 feet from the entrance. Reports are that inside women and children are being beaten and rapes are occuring. Helpless tourists are most at risk wandering into the area and being prayed upon.

I can't imagine what horrors they will unveil when they finnaly get in there to help people.

Check out this quote from the governor;

Gov. Kathleen Blanco Wrote:300 National Guard troops have arrived in the city fresh from duty in Iraq. She said they "know how to shoot and kill, and they are more than willing to do so, and I expect they will."

The Guard troops are carrying M-16's, which Blanco describes as "locked and loaded."
Reading NBC5 just now;

I love this quote from the Mayor of New Orleans to the Federal Government;

Quote:"Get off your asses and let's do something and let's fix the biggest goddamn crisis in the history of this country,"

"You have got to be kidding me.' This is a national disaster, get every doggone Greyhound bus line in the country and get their asses to New Orleans," he said. "This is a major, major, major deal."
those quotes from NO mayor are priceless!
They have got to get into that convention center even if they have to shoot a few people.

Send Arnold! The terminator can do it!
well bush made his visit today and he wasnt happy with anything. They now have brought in over 7000 people from the armed forces to shoot to kill if they have to so some type of order can be restored. That is there orders so hopefully all this raping and violence can stop. They need to send about 4000 of those armed forces into the convention center and end the madness for those trapped people inside. There helpless sitting there being raped and beaten over and over.
I heard today about a guy who had to drive his daughter out to safety and medication, he had to outrun several car jackings and said they he witnessed women being raped openly alongside the road.
thats just sickning. shoot them all who are commiting this stupid acts of crime and be done with it. If there dumb enough to shoot at the helicopters that are trying to help them then screw them. Just save the ones that need to be saved and get them back into someone that can help them. Thank God for texas doing there part, if it wasnt for them im sure thousands more would of been dead by now.
I just saw on the news a convoy of military is pulling in, these guys are fresh from Iraq and probably have little patience for bullshit.
who would be worried about busting a nut when chit like this is happening. It makes my wewe shrivel just thinking about their situation. I don't understand the raping part of what the criminals are doing.

I can understand the looting, these poor people are just trying to get ahead once in their lifetime. And by all means, looting for food or water should definitely be tolerated, I would be looting for those items as well. (I would of evacuated though so no need to loot)

Terrible, terrible situation down there. I've thought to myself "how can I help in this situation besides just sending money". I have thought about driving down there, sending supplies, sending money, etc...

These people that are trapped not only need food and water for the time being, they need to completely rebuild their lives. Imagine moving to a different state with no belongings and no work, that's what 100,000 have to do in a hurry. I thought about driving down there, picking up a family, bring them back to my house, provide them with shelter/food/clothes/job, until they can get their own apartment or something. That's just not realistic though. How can I go help 2-3 people when 100,000 people need help. Now if everyone had the same idea as me and we could get 20,000 homes to offer all the stuff I'm willing to offer then it would be a success. People just are not willing to give that much, and if I do it I would still feel like the whole situation fell through the cracks because I only helped a few people.

It's rough times right now.
300 people were brought here to Chicago, I imagine there will be more. If I find out where they may be I'll probably bring them clothing, blankets, etc. I'd rather put it in their hand than worry about what is happening to the money I've donated.
See this helecopter, back when I was 19 I worked as a crewman on these during my first stretch in the Army.

the supplies are being treated as "money" by the refugees I'm sure. Also Imagine all the people detoxing from drugs and alcohol right now. Bad situation

I'm sure there are "supply lords" just like "drug lords" at the superdome and convention center
Oh boy, you know the NAACP is going to have a hay day with this;

NBC5 Wrote:The evacuation onto buses bound for Texas was interrupted briefly to allow 700 guests and employees from the adjacent Hyatt Hotel to move to the head of the evacuation line and board school buses.

"How does this work? They are clean, they are dry, they get out ahead of us?" asked Howard Blue, an evacuee.

Blue attempted to join the Hyatt group but was denied a place. As he rejoined the thousands of others enduring subhuman conditions, National Guardsmen helped the well-dressed guests with their luggage.
