11-06-07: After a year of photoshops, guessing and leaks it is finally here. Four decades after hitting the big screen and redefining the on-screen car chase, the Ford Mustang Bullitt returns to the streets in 2008, blending the best Mustang ever with the latest Ford Racing technology.

This modern classic delivers a balance of power and performance, thanks to special chassis and suspension tweaks as well as the 315 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque that Bullitt delivers through its 4.6-liter V-8 engine.

"The 2008 Mustang Bullitt embodies the true spirit of the 1968 movie car," said Derrick Kuzak, group vice president, Global Product Development. "Like the original Bullitt, this car dials the driving dynamics up a notch for Mustang enthusiasts who love the performance, handling and the sweet sound of Ford power that only Mustang can deliver."

The 2008 Bullitt arrives in dealers early next year, with a starting MSRP of $31,075 (including destination and delivery) and limited production of 7,700 units for the U.S. and Canada.

Wow dave! Great posts!!!! Thanks for the support! The clean lines and bump in power is what sold me... Its not a tacky and gaudy like some of the GT's you see with fake hood scoops, side scoops, vinyl stickers and lame badges. Im very happy with my choice.

The Bullitt sounds great, too! Ford tried to recreate the 390 sound from the movie. I'd drive it.

Being serious. I haven't been up to date on mustang news for years, at least not since I owned one. Back then, the only mustang that was stick only were the cobra's, everything else was your choice.

Are the bullitt's like the cobra's, stick only? The only thing I new for sure was the minimal styling cues, little extra horsepower and functional shaker hood. That's about it.

Good choice Roc, not a ford fan but I do like what they've been doing with the mustangs.

Looks good. Could use a small spoiler or something on the back. Not a fan of the stangs with out one.
