anyone ever run a two stroke in there rc when i was visiting my dad some guy in cali was running a 2 stroke maye a o.s engine on a onroad car .....
all the nitro engines for cars are two stroke, planes and helis use 4 strokes
Like Mike said, about 99% of land based RC's today are 2 stroke engines. OS does make some 4 stroke small blocks for touring cars, but the predominant engine is a 2 stroke, .15 to .18 for small block RTR, and usually .26 or .28 for big block RTRs. Most racers run .12's for on-road 1/10th and for 1/8th its .21s.

A 4 stroke is nice, but often can't make enough power because they lose alot of RPM compared to a 2stroke. 2 strokes are also simpler to build becuase they have less moving parts.
For once I agree with Mike.
I was thinkin about looking into a 4 stroke for my touring car, but I don't even know where to get a clutch for the thing it's got a wierd lookin crank.
its got a sg shaft i think gas truck style, prolly wont have enough high RPM
Most 4 strokes top out about 18 to 20,000rpm for the small blocks. So you'll need much taller gearing to take advantage of the torque as well as a heavier clutch to engage sooner.
yeah I don't know too much about it, but I'm curious to try something new that I've never seen yanno what im sayin.
I think he's talkin about the 1/5th scale pump gas 2 strokes.
I've seen all kinds of Gassers run. They are awesome ! At this point I have 3 & hope to get more here soon.
