This looks like a good deal, but not sure since i have only had nitros.

The cheapest i found for the slash was 189.99 - 199.99 @ hobbytown. The VXL-3 system was 149.99- 159.99... Worst case its 359.98 Install the vxl 3 yourself and have the xl-5 and that buzzard ass titan as a backup. If you are going to run lipos venom has a new charger with a balancer built in it for 100.00 110.00 bucks. I run 3s 11.1 6000 m venom lipos and your right , those bitches are not cheap but man... I have a banruspede im getting clocked at 76 mph with a robinson 35 pinion and 76 spur.

Even thou i guess some are just jerk offs!

Some people get online later on, so they missed when you hijacked the thread, and if they want to post a reply to the question you asked then they can, after they said what they wanted to then all is good. But really if you ever read any thread on just about every forum site out there, it will always get off subject for a little bit, and then it gets back on subject (it is the cycle of the way things work online)

They put them out with the thought of starting a new class. So my thought is if people are going to race them they are going brushless anyways right.

A lot of the reason they aren't released with a Brushless setup, is it is a new platform. There is no telling how they will sell. By releasing them with a cheaper set-up, they can get more people to "Take the hook" and pick them up a low price. If the sales are high, they will probably come out with a BL version.

Another thing to keep in mind, is people wanting a Spec class. In a Spec class, you are LUCKY to be able to change the radio system, let alone the motor/esc, etc. Spec classes are usually aimed at a lower cost vehicle, to keep the sales high. How many people would run out and drop $500-$600 on a "New Class" just to find out they don't like it?
Also, you might want to research the VXL systems. I don't know from experience, but one of the guys at the track the other night was having problems with the VXL. When marshalled, sometimes I would have to "Push-Start" his truck. The ESC/Motor wouldn't engage. Not sure if this is a common problem, or if he got a bad one.

Yup, plus they'll get a little more money out of it if they build it without first then have somebody go out and buy a VXL with it than they would if it was pre-installed. I think there's about a $40-$50 between buying a XL-5 Pede vs. a VXL Pede before you factor in all the BL specific goodies that are needed to convert those trucks (but are already installed on the Slash.)

Haven't run across that with my converted Pede yet, we do have a customer that has had both an ESC and motor go bad on him. I think a snow bank is what killed the ESC and have no idea what killed the motor on his truck. These things will cog if the voltage is too low, what kind of battery and gearing was he running?

Not sure of Battery and Voltage. If I had to guess, I would say he was running a 2-cell lipo, considering the performance was right on par with firesprink's slash while he was running the 2-cell with his Novak.
