Automatic car features are supposed to make life easier for motorists, but they may be leaving some people without the know-how to do things the old-fashioned way. That’s what happened to a driver in Utah County who became trapped inside her own car.

A woman called Orem police Friday afternoon needing help because her battery died and she was locked inside her car.

Woman Calls Orem Police To Free Her From Her Locked Car

When police arrived, they found the woman sitting in the car, unable to get herself out. She couldn’t hear the officers instructions through the rolled-up windows so she motioned to them to call her on her cell phone, according to police.

Once officers were able to talk to the woman on the phone, they were able to tell her how to manually operate the slide lock mechanism on the inside door panel to open the door and free herself.

“I'm just glad she had a cell phone to call for help,” an officer said.

Wow, this is back from the dead. Hasn't this been proven fake? I find it hard to believe that anyone could be THAT stupid.
Well. about once a month, or more, we'll get a cobalt or a saturn ion/g5 where the key sticks in the ingition and won't come out. and you can't shut the engine off. only way to kill engine is to pull the ignition fuse. its a random wierd problem where some solenoid fails causing the car to be stuck running or the key stuck in ignition requiring some new parts.
and what relevance does that have to this dumb bitch locking herself in her car?

She's like the idiot in a film who's throttle gets stuck wide open and then careens through the city at full speed smashing pedestrians and driving on sidewalks cause she can't stop the car.

Easy solution, kill the engine, or if thats not possible throw it in neutral and let it blow.
Remember the keypads for entry codes on LIncoln/Mercury's?

I know someone who forgot their code and couldn't get into their car.

The key DOES work, ya know!
LOL^ Dave that's funny as hell.

I recently saw that Toyota was having that problem with their Tacoma's that used drive by wire throttle. The trucks would just take off on their own, but none of the owners were smart enought to shut the damn thing off before they lost it and crashed Rolleyes
