What would I need to turn the rtr gt2 into bump start? Its already a pull start so id prolly have to buy a new backplate right? What boxes will fit it nice? And what size batteries doyou think can turn over that lil motor? Thanks,
Nick.
Pretty much any box thats for 1.0th. If you're going to "convert" to bump-start. you COULD just take out the OWB. but if not, I dont know if they sell a backplate for the RTR engine. But if you get a backplate you will have to cut the starter pin with a dremel.
Don't see a backplate for the .15x.
So then just take out the owb? And hows this box:

[TTR2409] Thunder Tiger 1/10 & 1/8 Pro Starter Starter Box
Should work.
You don't even need to remove the OWB. Just start it.
Yeah but Dave, it will reduce drag if you do Wink
I just built a GT-2 kit and have that box but it did not fit well. The wheel is to wide and the diameter is to big and it will not fit through the chassis to make good contact with the flywheel.

Basically in order to use the TTR box or even the AE box made for the GT-2 the slot in the chassis will need to be opened up to allow the starter wheel to fit properly.

I did not use the TTR box and bought a new Ofna box with a gel cell and it works fantastic. I recommend if you need to buy a box to purchase this one.

[OFN10256] OFNA 1/10 Universal Starter Box

or this one, the same box but has a panel and comes w/battery.

[OFN10257] OFNA 1/10 Unversial Starter Box, w/Power Panel
Nick, I got that box he posted... it's yours if you want it for less than new (alot lol) drop me a pm.
You still got the drag of the Starter shaft thing on the engine, Thats the most major drag.

I know that's the principal, but one of the all-knowing magazine guys did a dyno test, and the Hp loss was minimal. Weight savings might be considered too.

I just left the PS on my truggy engine so I can quick start it when it's warmed up. Kinda handy, for me.
just leave it on, im sure ull sell it within a month or two anyway
Nah, its fun. Just need some new tires
