??? You do realize the Super Nitro is like an 1/8 scale car, yes? It's much bigger than the TC3's. You prolly should make sure they will let you run it at Tinley.
Already talked to Walt, he said its ok unless I make it to the a-mains and someone starts complaining.

Walt actually ran one for quite awhile. Here is an article he wrote about it.
Well I would hate to make the mains and THEN find out people complaining is going to DQ me. If they let you run qualifiers with it, you should be allowed to run in the mains!!

I wonder if they feel the bigger car is a disadvantage and that it's not gonna be an issue?

Just curious, but why do you want to run that vs. your TC3's?
I just want to run it till I get used to driving around a track, the Super Nitro handles much better than the NTC3, that's why some drivers may complain.

I don't expect to be in the a-mains for awhile.
But it's bigger, which makes me wonder if it will corner better than a smaller car. It sure will be easier to see!!
It's wider which I have to think will make it easier to corner.
easier to corner while the turn radius will suffer.

A super nitro hanbdles better than a tc3??? who tested that? and on what track?

A super nitro is a blown up RS4 isn't it?
Heck... who knows....I'll tell you after I run a few laps around the track.

I know Walt loved his, won quite a few races.
I'm not trash talking it by any means, I think they are sweet cars Smile

Heck I've thought about getting one a time or two.
can't you drop a big block in those, but you need a big block kit?
It is a scaled up RS4 but:

belt drive (except for the very newest one)
single speed
bigger wheels & tires
longer, wider, weighs more

I gotta believe it gonna be slower than a RS4. But I've never run one. Maybe with an aftermarket engine it will fly. If nothing else it will take a "rub" better than a smaller car.
Yeah, you need some kind of kit. From Walt's article though a .15 is all you need.

Dad,

I was just checking the Tinley schedule...the news area says racing is cancelled for 8/21.
Ugh...that will seriously suck.

Correct.

Chicagoland RC Raceway will be closed this weekend. There is a big nitro race in Des Plaines called the MidWest Series. Most of the local nitro crowd will be racing there that day....including Walt who runs Tinley.

So if you're looking for some onroad action the only thing would be AJ's raceway in Dekalb Saturday.

I've got to call AJ's and find out their full schdule.

Starting this weekend AJ's is under new management and will be called IRP...Intense Raceway Park.

This is their schedule starting in September:

Saturday 9:00am to 9:00pm
Carpet On-Road Practice

Sunday 9:00am to 12:00pm
Carpet On-Road Practice
12:00pm Electric Carpet On-Road Racing

Track closed Monday through Friday.

*Special Practice Session on Labor Day, We will be open from 9:00am to 6:00pm on Sept. 5th.
Does AJ's race all year long? I've got to find a new place to go after Tinley's season closes.
yes...Intense Raceway is open all year..

but it is starting to become indoor race season.....they only have an indoor carpet track.

i'm not 100% sure how much longer the outdoor offroad and onroad tracks will be open.
It looks like racing will be over for nitro on-road, AJ's only has electric on-road right?
