looking for some feedback on the place before I drive all the way out there and fork over 22 bux to ride. Is the place even possible to ride a 2wd quad there. It's a nice 2wd but none the less it's 2wd lol Thats my main concern. I don't like getting stuck in mud. I'm cool with stumps and branches and stuff cause I can lift it out. I'm screwed when it comes to the sink though lol. If you come to a spot you can't go through can you go around? Or will they get po'd cause "Your off the trail" lol.
Just some q's for those who have been there. If you have any other imput lmk
Thanks
Jeff
Ive been going there for 2 years now with our Jeeps, I went about 8 times just this year since April Big Grin
Anyway, Ive seen plenty of 2wd quads there, they just go around the muddy spots most of the time.
There are no rules about staying on trails, you can go just about anywhere you want within the park.
You must have a helmet and a flag, they sell flags if you need one, and they dont allow passengers on quads.
Can you rent quads there? I jsut did some atv'ing here in mexico and now I'm hooked!

Nope
Took the Cherokee there (when I still had it) and it was GREAT! Clean trails and a sweet view
I went there this year with my ranger and saw eracer there lol. Anyways my brother in law took his suzuki quadsport 400 quad there and he had no problems. Only time he got stuck was when he went through a mud pit that sunk the front end to the handles bars lol. Besides that he made it completly through the park in like a half hour. Its not very big but to answer your question you will be fine. Just avoid those big rutted out mud holes.
cool. Looks like I'll be going towards the end of january if the temp is ok. Anyone else who might be interested? Ranger?
id go but I got open diffs on my truck at the moment and no lift. Well I do got leveling springs on the front now but still. Maybe if I can get my loc-right locker for my front diff in time il go.
I'm down for a ride to the Cliffs almost anytime. I got open diffs and have had no problems except when I try doing the expert trails....(eric saw the damage) =P
man you guysare hard core lol 'm gonna take my qua. I got 2 of my buds lined up alsowantin to go. I guess we'll have to set up a day.
lol what kind of damage did you get?
Smashed the RR quarter and RR door....=P
lol nice. Addicted heres some pics from when I went there. Ended up pushing in the drivers side rear fender and extended part of the cab. They werent dents, just pushed in. I got caught in a tight spot and have to use my body to pivot around a tree to get out of the situation lol.

Time to get some sliderz on that pig
i go to the cliffs with my quad a have a yfz450 and i love it... i went once after a huge rain storn and it was the best time.. its worth the drive... i would rather go thier than the badlands anyday of the week...if u like trails u will love it with a sport quad. and if its dry out dirtbikes are a blast thier..
I got some nerf bars on there now. Doubt there gonna do much since there about even with the body but its better then nothing.
I've been there with my Polaris Sportsman in the spring and fall when it's muddy which is what I enjoy. Your 2wd will make it no problem. I wont go in the summer it's a dust bowl. Might be good for the dirt bikes.

I'm from the UP of Michigan were 4 wheelin was a daily part of my life and I'm use to riding in a forest that's 500,000 plus acres so to me this place is very very very small. But there is not many places to go in Northern IL so for $20 and a day of riding it's probably the closest location you will find for a day of wheelin.
cool, I can't wait!
Not quite on topic but it is an offroad story

Man ohhhh man...

today me and the ol' lady were out screwin around wit my sport trac in the snow when i decided it would be a good idea to go to my place of work and do dougnuts in the parking lot... Well....
After about 5 mins of 4wd doughnuts i was bored and decided i was going to drive through the retention pond behind our warehouse. its about 7 feet deep by 200 feet long by 30 feet across. I decided to drive across it well going down and in was easy, but from the blowing and drifting snow the other end where i had to climb out was drifted to about 3 feet deep so you wont be surprised when i say i dug in.
No worries, i said... I backed up and ran at it again. Hmmm stopped in my tracks again.. So i punch it and this time i see MUD flying!!! I was like what the FCUK!!! Apprentley the mud and clay which this pond is made of wasnt frozen for some reason! So now im panicing. So i decided to 3 point turn and go out the way i came. So i back up, turn and drop it in drive and punch it to climb the hill out Well after some wheel spin the 07 sport trac clawed its way out.
Well.. that was cool i thought... Till i looked at the 1ft deep ruts i left on company property. So i busted out a snow shovel and tried to cover my tracks. Man i hope that snow never melts. What a dumbass i am!
So in the middle of a snow storm i was at the do0-it-ourself carwash trying to hose half frozen clay of my trucks independent rear suspenion lower control arms which were packed with "evidence". My hitch and all my fender wells and runner boards were equally packed. so after 7 bucks i THINK i got all the clay and mud. I dont look forward to spring when my have to fix all that shit... My boss is gonna shit his pants....
I run the cliffs 4-5 times a year with my 4x4 quads, have been out there in a 07 rubicon and my 02 KJ. THe worst damage I got on a road vehicle was a couple light scratches and both vehicles are bone stock. The place is tight but if your careful its good for about any vehicle
I just got in trouble for passing someone doing 10 on a street in a subdivision. I think I'm grounded. WTF.

LOL! im sorry Ponch Wink
lol ponch that sucks. I flipped some lady off doing 50 down the road at 6:30 this morning because she couldnt drive in snow. I went to pass her and downshifted to third gear. Proceeded to switch lanes and got my backend out pretty decent while in the lane change passing her. I understand about driving safe and all but why do you pull out from were ever in front of me then drive 10mph and make me swerve around you.
lol...I almost totalled my car about 6 times last night. I hate ABS. sent me through the Main-street intersection in my town. Im really happy there was nobody coming. All I have to say is it's time for a set of tires Sad
LOL Rocco. I bet you were happy to got out of that spot. Oh man your boss is going to shiot when the snow melts.
