Here's a video I totally forgot about that I was at during the filming. These guys were friends with the band Wicked Kick that I managed at the time up in Canada.

Kids today have no idea where all the cool s___t came from!

Another great band Amebix:

These guys played my 20th B-day party: (yes, that would be 22 years ago punkasses! lol!)
The first band was my favorite out of all those, though imho there second song was better...
http://youtube.com/watch?v=8Fa74btBwVI]YouTube - Atreyu "Becoming the Bull"
The production is better these days. That's cool. Too bad the musicianship is worse. Atreyu, Nickelback, what's the difference? Both good bands but nothing innovative compared to the stuff I was involved with 20 years ago. And don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan of many new bands just not many of the US mainstream ones. European bands rock! For an old fart I listen to way more new s__t than any of your parents.

cmon dude atreyu is NOTHING like nickelback lol

Saw them (atreyu) live and that's what turned me onto them. Before that I didn't really care for them.
there older stuff is alot of screaming, but theres still alot of good songs, the newer stuff is a little bit more radio friendly for most people

Us old f---Ks call that "selling out" and totally lame. We got respect in spite of how the world saw us and we performed! Kids today got no back bone or talent.

I could put a band together tomorrow with more balls than %90 of whats out there. Granted, I know a few heavy old school hitters like my buddies from Exodus! Big Grin
i wouldnt call it selling out, just changing with the times, its still a real similar sound

OK, I guess that's why I like alot of the newer bands. I just wish they had a bit more bite and intellligent lyrics. You know, more anti establishment, more anti Bush's BS war! Why don't kids today realize their future is being stolen by the multi-national corporations that have no loyalty to America?
more like rage against the machine...tell me ur not a bleeding heart liberal

Bleeding is for bitches every month. But I'm not some dumb ass Nazi Republican either. Most of these "wannabe Republicans" with a net worth of less than $5 million are fools being played like violins by the guys that really pull the strings.
See... This is nice! A an intersting thread where mike and bruce get along! Wow!

Atreyu rocks! IMO mudvayne HAS sold out, BUT thats just my opinion.

Yeah they are good mike.... Just cuz theyre lil emo fags doesnt bother me.... i make up for it with seether, killswitch and Velvet revolver.
lmao i agree
OMG you r taking me back. Sacrifice reminds me of Nuclear Assault. Good chit.
Exodus RULES!!!! Toxic Waltz!!

Mudvayne is one of the best bands to come out in a while. Saw them at Oz fest about 6 years ago.

Exodus, Murphy's Law, 7 Seconds. Battalion of Saints, 10-96 all played my 21st B-day bash in Kenosha, Wi at Dukes II. You guys just have no idea how big a concert in May can be but let's change that....
Mudvaye is from Peoria, there new CD is out, a couple new unrealeased songs but its mainly a collection of live stuff and demos. Seen them twice, excellent live band.

Of all newer bands nobody is going to top Tool, though they came to be in the 90s.

You want sell outs, Metallica, after the black album they sunk like a lead canoe, but Master of puppets and Justice for all probally 2 of the best metal albums of all time.

Keep in mind, what you consider selling out, is necessary in todays world to sell records. Word of mouth doesn't sell cd's, actually hearing the bands is what gets people interested. Unless you have satelite radio, it is near impossible to hear good metal anymore. The closest Chicago has to a hard rock station anymore, is Q101, who considers System of a Down "Hardcore Thrash". When a band adds 2-3 "Radio songs" to a CD, that is far from selling out. It is just a way to get their music heard. Metallica, completely changing their style, image, and attitude, is selling out.

My favorite "New" bands, are Avanged sevenfold, Atreyu and Saliva. As for the older stuff, Anthrax, Original Metalica, Megadeath and Exodus (to name a few).
