Can you give me some pro s and cons of each. I am not a hard core gammer and will not be doing any online gamming, its just for at the house to pass the time. I like the wii aspect for the movement involved ( so does wife) but cannot find one anywhere so 360's are readily available.

Your help is appreciated.
What kind of games do you plan on playing?? 360 is going to have far better overall gameplay and graphics when comparing same games. It is also going to have better first person games. The Wii is great if you are going to have lots of people playing it and is great for kids. Its a lot of fun and a great party system. If I had to choose one (and I currently own neither) it would be a 360 though. Fantastic games, gameplay, and graphics. I'm still waiting for my PS3 to catch up....
Honestly you should let the games choose for you. Take a look at the current games out there, and pick the ones you like, go with whatever system gets you the games want.

Something to consider, the 360 and PS3 demand a good screen and sound system. Most of the games for these consoles only provide the full experience if you have a hi-def and surround setup.

The Wii's games on the other hand don't seem to need a HD screen or surround systems to enjoy the games. Wii bowling is great, mario galaxy is fun too. I don't own a Wii, I'm just going on my limited experiences playing the Wii at my friends house so I don't have that much experience with all of its games.

Thats not to say the Wii won't benefit from a HD/surround setup though, that makes any game better. Smile

However, I can say this. When playing forza I dim the lights, close the blinds, and crank the surround up to hear the cars scream. For me Forza 2, and Halo 3 sold the Xbox 360. The addition of a HD-DVD drive also helped tremendously. I will be following it up in a few months with a PS3, the reason being blue-ray. I may never get a Wii, the games while fun aren't something I can pick up over and over again.

*A side note. If you buy the Wii, get the replacement straps. Some people get a little TOO enthusiastic with the controller and forget themselves. :o:

The wii is fun for certain games while the 360 is fun for others, the 360 has way better games imo. We have a wii and i never really play it unless theres smaller kids over or were having a party. If i could choose I would go with the 360 unless you have kids, they usually like the wii.
360 Rocks every other system. and I've played them all, extensivly. but only decided to buy the 360. hate to say but the new Playstation blows IMO. crappy online play. Lack of games etc. and they already transfered my favorite title to the 360. Armored Core. so no more worrys cause Forza will always Dominate Gran Turismo. Smile
360 cons..

The controller to me seems bulky with to many buttons.

There is still issues with the flashing red light of death were you have to send your system in.

It costs to play online or do anything online.

Not a whole lot of games that interest me

wii cons...

Games are more setup for either grandparents or really young kids.

Cant find em anywere.

360 pro's....

Lots of games available

Awesome state of the art graphics

Good warrenty service from microsoft from what ive heard.

Pro's wii....

New way of gaming

Lots of games out and lots to do in the games

Very interactive with the motions
exercise is good, go with the Wii!
I have tons of fun with my brothers....
the Wii is cool. not alot of first shooter games but the ones they have are cool. you actually have to aim. kind of like the old school duck hunt.
The Xbox live cost is very minimal, just wanted to mention that. It works out to $8/mo with my Gold membership. This means I can get online with ANY Xbox, or Xbox 360 game that supports live, which is just about all of them.

Its nice because there isn't a third party online fee per game which could get expensive.
I personally like the xbox and the games that are available on it. If I remember correctly you just had a daughter not too long ago. Nintendo has always been more kid-oriented where xbox and sony have always been more for the older crowd.
I like the xbox. Especially Forza 2 on a hi-def tv. OH MY GOD that was awesome. Just like real life.

So my vote is xbox. My friend has both, the wii just sits and collects dust.

Ya call of duty is great on the wii.
If you're just looking for casual gaming to kill time, I'd go with the wii. I have both here at the house and I only use the xbox for online gaming with the exception of the madden game.

The wii is great for the whole family. You could get the wife and kid to play! The golf game that's included with the system is fantastic! As is the bowing and tennis. The biggest drawback to the wii is the availability. There super hard to find.
Thanks guys for the help.

If it was just me I would go 360, but I wont be able to blast the surround anyways when playing because the daughter will be sleeping. It was mostly my wifes idea, and my 2 year old may not now but soon maybe begine to fart around with the Wii, so I think I will go that route, if I can find one. I think I will like the sports play of the Wii.

So if anyone sees one in a store let me know...LOL

DO any of you gamers know why the Wii's are still so hard to get, they have been out over a year you think they would have caught up to demand, or is demand that high....

Anyone want to sell a like new unit?
want a nintendo 64 with about 100 games G lol
theres still that high of a demand. Best buy is getting another shipment by me on sunday. They already told me if I want one I better be there no later then 5am otherwise I can just forget it lol. They open at 8
The demand is still there. According to the news, nintendo has upped the production on it and still can't keep up with the demand.
We had to wait outside target when they first came out at 5am until they opened at 8am. I think that was also the first snow we had for the year. that was fun. Just ask them when they should be getting them in and just wait in line pretty early for them. We bought two and just recently sold the other one, made $500 off it. And part of the reason theyre still outta stock is because they are the cheapest out of the new systems.
We got our Wii last January. I just happened to be at a Target on the day they arrived. We have played it extensively since, even though we only have a few games. We play the sports, Truck racing, Raymonds raving rabits, and now GUITAR HERO III!!!!! Which is so darn awesome!
I am definately a casual gamer with kids and fam so the Wii is for me!
G, do yourself a favor and get the 360. Trust me, you will love the online play and the game choices are excellent for anything you want. Graphics are killer too. You can "rent" HD movies on it too.

I have all 3 systems and the Wii doesnt see much action. Its a fun machine and i love it but it is the least loved. and the movement gets old after a while. Best thing i like is being able to DL'd old games from back in the day. It really is a clever system, but not for a hardcore gamer who wants to kill online.

PS3 is great too, you cant beat the Blue-ray player and graphics. free online play (not as good as 360) but its still good. Soon enough the Wii will be online play as well.

Dont fool yourself, YOU WILL BE AN ONLINE JUNKIE TO KILL TIME.

Get the 360 Elite and put MUFFDOCTA in your friends list. See you online.
man must be nice to be on welfare and have 2 grand worth of video gaming systems
Thanks Joe for the input, but we are getting a Wii. I have an HD DVD player so thats not a factor. ANd online gamming isn't important to me. Too busy with other things, just want something for a little excitement when people come over or pass the time after my daughter goes to bed. PLus the wife seems interested in the wii. This was all her idea, I always said I could dust off my ps2 and be happy.

Looks like I 'll have a Wii MOnday or Tuesday.
how did you get a wii? You werent one of them who payed over 400 on ebay for it are you? I cant find a wii anywere. Everywere is sold out and they said its best to camp when we get more in otherwise you wont get one.
I have a man on the inside.... and no I am paying retail for it..... Plus maybe buying the guy a lunch...lol
