Im looking to buy some new phones. (nextel Service).

More concerned with Battery life & Signal Strength,
Then music, gps, Web, etc..........................

Any Suggestions. (Tired of droped calls)Confusedalute:
I have a nextel I560 it is one of the rugged ones and that thing has taken some nasty falls and been drug on the ground so many times and keeps working great. I have never really had any signal issues and my battery lasts about a good day and a half depending on how much I talk on it. It not one of the picture phones or anything like that it just has a screen on the outside so that way you can see who is calling without opening it up to look. To get the phone comes with some other silly options like the gps and you can download song for ring tones and such but I never used any of that stuff. I hope this helps a little.
560- rugged, great batt life on another note if you hit # * menu → you can go to the ERR/ channel and select on. it makes the signal sorta bounce frm sprint towers or something like that helps alot
DO NOT GET A NEW HYRBID. I broke my old 670 and got the hyrbid, worst decision ever.

Phone is crap, screen has been scrated from rubbing on the buttons on the phone in my pocket since it was a week old.

No service in the house, and full tower outside of the house, but still get dropped calls and can barely understand the other person.
Is dropped calls a phone issue or service issue?
BTW, I think it's a service issue Wink
Well the thing is.

The other nextel phones (non hybrid) run on the nextel towers. The new phones (hybirds) run on the sprint towers. So I guess it is both. Wink

I think it is a phone issue.
I never had a problem till i got the i730's. Confusedmash:This phone Sucks.

Im using an old phone i had laying around and it works fine. An i205
But im looking for something a little smaller
with bluetooth , Camera, & Good Service.

My contract is up so i was concidering switching service to.
Who has good reliable service.
Verizon is what my whole family has. It gets service anywhere. When we go camping and dirtbiking out in ottawa and Wedron were the only ones that get service so everyones always using our phones.
SPRINT OR AT&T FTW!!!!!!!! I've had sprint for 3 years now, have never once had a problem! After 3 years I have never dropped a call, and that includes phone calls in the bottom level of blue chips casino(btw it's a boat so I was under water) in Michigan city. Great phones, great service, Resonably priced!
Same thing with mine, i havent been to the boat but have it for like 4 yrs now and no problems.

You have the hybrid, I have a straight sprint phone with a sprint only contract. I thought about switching over but after all the reviews I decided not to.

If I do ever change carriers it will be at&t. Verizon, U.S. Cell, and t-mobile blow!!!!

Unless you lived near me. lol
I left nextel a few months after their merger with sprint. I went with verizon. From experience, verizon has a far better network that nextel/sprint. I've since left verizon for att so I could buy an iphone. Verizon has better coverage than att too IMO.

Nextel just isn't the same. I thought their service was great when I first used them, then it all went downhill. Not sure if it was because of the service after the merger, the current phones, or a combo of both...
Never had a problem with verizon finding service except in my school's cafeteria. lol

If your looking to switch companies to AT&T I would check out the i-phone. Just from using a friends a little bit it seems cool.
It seems as the nextel phones get older. They are not as good as they once were. I have two on me most of the day. And my I730 would be out while my I530 would be fine. And there were days where it was the other way around.

I have also noticed that they dont like changing towers while in use. So that could be the problem your having. I dont drop calls often, maybe once a week. But they will lose service sometimes while jumping around. And the signal doesnt like trees either.

I have a I880 now. The $300+ phone. No problems at all with it so far. Only one dropped call this month. The tower problems are still there but they dont seem to be as bad as before.

Get the insurance plan!!! Only $7/mo and well worth it. These new phones are CHEAP!. They have a plastic hinge now so if you hold your phone between your shoulder and head. Its only a matter of time before it snaps. If you have that plan. Its fixed for free.

I also have a spear I850 and that did almost as well as my 880 does.
The nextel service has gone to shit since sprint came in. Its not the towers, its when you call sprint/nextel. Not very understanding or willing to work now as once before.

Nextels towers are different then all other towers. Although I have heard of a plan for something next year along the lines of nextels being used on sprint phones. Who knows what the service will be like then.
i just bought the blackberry 7100i and i havent had a dropped call yet. i bought the i730 when it first came out and i never had such bad service. i also had the i 930 and it was a great phone till i broke the antenna off of it
I have been with Sprint since 1995 when they had bag phones! I have had the same LG Sprint phone now since 2001. My contract is awesome because I never had a contract. I got my phone before Sprint had them, you just bought the friggin phone. I love Sprint, and will never ever trade my contract. Its 30 bucks a month for 400 minutes which is far more than I ever use.
I know this is not really helpful, sorry.

Lol, I had one of those to. Then the big brick phone.
I still have one of those out in the garage. I never used it. I dont even remember how it got there. I dont even know if it works or not.
You know i dont understand why the phone matters so much on what kind of service you get for Nextel / Sprint. Thats BS I'd never get a Nextel.
SLOW REVO Wrote:Lol, I had one of those to. Then the big brick phone.
i had the brick, tech has come a long way although you could use the brick phone to kill a charging puma( lewis black ). since the merger i drop more calls now with the nextel and the 560 sucks.
Dude look at the blackberry's! They just about give them away and you get a very stable operating system that works seamless with email and IM. I have the pearl. It's smaller than most phones and works great. With my sprint phone I didn't have service in my house. Now I get a signal everywhere. Mine is through ATT but just about everyone supports them now.

By the way I was with sprint for like 12 years and got so fed up with there chit. I havn't been with ATT long but their customer service is miles ahead of sprint!!

But really, they all kiss your ass to get your biz, but once they have you they don't give a damn! With sprint, if you want a new phone you pay full price until 2 years then they give you 75$ off. So my advise is when you get new service, get the best phone you can because it's the only time it wont cost you a mint!
