Hello all,

I have a MBX5 Pro, Spektrum DX3 radio and receiver. Last year I bought a new JRZ 9000T and I had no problems with it. Adjust the trim at the beginning of the race day and and it pretty much stayed centered.

This year something has happened, I tried 3 different servo's so far and I just installed a brand new Airtronic's 94358 and I have not even raced yet, if I center it and then turn the wheel back and forth a dozen times and let go of the wheel, it's off center, adjust it and do it again and its off center again.

I tried tightening the servo saver and that didn't help.

If anyone has some suggestions I would appreciate it.

I did search the forums for this and couldn't find anyone else with this same problem.

make sure that the servo horn does not have any missing or stripped teeth
Make sure your servo horn is not stripped out.

Ahh! Beat me to it!
+3 or is it 2... lol
try using the horn that came with the servo and see if the problem still there.
Thanks,

I used the horn that came with the airtronic's it has never been on the track yet, installed both the servo and the horn yesterday.

did you try a brand new model memory on your controller? Ive had weird problems like this before and a simple starting over usually fixes it
So the horn is ok? Or are you assuming since its new its ok. The teeth are plastic and can get stripped easily just by putting it on if they are not lined up perfect. ( not questioning your ability, just trying to help)
one of the ball ends on your steering rod or tie rod stripped?
If your servo saver is too tight, you maybe stripping your servo horn
Thanks,

I will try and new model setting now....

yea, I assumed new from the package was good on the horn, but I did buy a aluminum that I have not opened the package on it yet, I will try that one also.

Keep in mind that the wheels and off the ground at this time , the car is sitting on a block with the tires dangling and the problem is still happening.

Ok, new model setting didn't help.

But a different transmitter did! I have one other spektrum Transmitter here a DX2 and so far it has corrected the problem. I will do some more testing and make sure that is it and post back, thanks for the idea's!

Are you hitting the button on the controller that adjusts the steering when your driving? Ive seen that happen a few times.

LOL! Smile Smile Smile I'm not being nasty, but really, I can line up the splines on the servo horn by feel. It either goes or it doesn't. These things are so delicate, that it doesn't qualify for getting out a bigger hammer to make it fit.

Sorry if anybody takes offence to my comment, but when I started in R/C there was no internet, only magazines, and I learned by trial and error.

Being the son of a "Tool Maker/ Tool Grinder", I learned early how things should fit together. If it doesn't go easy, find out why.
Just to follow up with this post, I did try new servo horns, known good receivers, and new servo's but the problem still exists, the only thing that solves it is a different radio. My theory at this time is that my Spektrum DX3 has gone bad. When I clear the data in the transmitter and re-bind the receiver it will hold the settings for almost a 5 minute race. I don't have an extra transmitter I can use at this time for racing, thinking about buying the DX3R when it comes out in July. Then I can send my old one in for service.

if you can do without your radio for a week or so just box it up and send it to horizon, turnaround time on spektrun repairs is pretty fast, and free. usually takes less than 2 weeks from the time you send it off till the time you get it back.
I felt now that the "real" problem has been found I should update this post with the fix. This post started off I thought it was a problem with the car, sorry I should have put this in the radio forum, maybe a mod can move it?

Anyway to make a long story short the problem was with the transmitter, there is a plastic bushing inside that came loose, it is held from turning by 3 small spots that are melted together, this broke and the potentiometer in the transmitter was turning inside the plastic.

I posted some photo's and a little more details over on our forums.

Thanks for all the helpful advise, I do appreciate it.

Something like this could make you want to quit RC all together. But I knew I was not that bad of a driver Big Grin

Man..that's crazy...wouldn't expect that to break, huh?
No I didn't, it was only fastened in a small area all 3 melted points were bunched to together, I guess that allowed some leverage and movement or something.

I raced with it today and I am happy to say that it is fixed. I still have plenty of other issues that prevent me from winning 1st place in the A, primarily driving skill, but at least this is one less thing to worry about and huge step toward being able to fine tune the rest.
