I pay 5.99 a month for phone insurance at cingular, you can get up to TWO replacement phones per year with a $50 dollar deductable each. There's no need to go back to that store cause they can't do anything for you, everything is handled by an insurance company OVER THE PHONE. First call customer service and add the insurance, then wait till you pass the minimum amount of time to file a claim(I think it's about a week), then you have to call Cust. service and follow the steps to make a claim. No need to run over your phone...Just tell them you had some "Butt-Huggers" on, the phone in your pocket, sat down and craked the screen or something to that effect and you should be all good.

Screw that do what I do, tell the insurance company that you lost it or it was stolen. That way you get to keep the broken phone(mainly for the extra battery!!!!) Done it about 6 times now since I've had sprint and not once have I had any problems. I now have three 1040mAh Li-polymer batteries for my Fusic from doing this.

Btw Ponch just cause I know you! If you do tell them it was stolen or lost, DON'T TRY TO SELL IT!!!!!!!!!!! If it's lost or stolen the ESN is tagged and will never work again(unless you send it in to the insurance company).
Problem with that is I think ponch has cingular, if so, they make you file a police report before making a claim https://cingular.atgnow.com/cng/tutorials/KB63935.html

Nevermind then Ponch. Well thats another plus for Sprint!!
you can still file a police report they take your information and write it down and put it in a file or throw it away. thats all they do. to bad nextel insurance plans suck and they are only cvalid for a year on certain phones. but good luck
i found a couple phones, a Razor and some other singular one; its been about a year now any way i can use them
if you get a good sim card for the phone it SHOULD work.

Max, thank you for all the information. My mom's OK with the idea so I'll be calling cingular soon. And $50 plus insurance fees ain't bad, considering the phone cost me $70ish in the first place.
MIKE,

you might be able too, unless they were reported lost, stolen, or have a ballance due type thing.

honestly mike, it does you no good, most companys have the free or close to free phones like a razor.... and its new and you know it works... also if you do start with a old used phone your stuck with it for 2 years and no discount on a upgrade.... its HELL trying to convince them otherwise. so your better off just getting new service and phone all at the same time.

yea DEF dont report it stolen....
When I bought my blackberry, I made sure I purchased insurance. It worked excellent for ~2 months, then I woke up one morning, the phone fell from my desk to the carpeted floor less than 2 feet below, cracked teh screen. I sent it in and got a new one. Works great since. And I've done MUCH worse then 2 foot carpeted falls to it, LOL
My Samsung is a tank an indestructible. Thats what you get for your thin stylish accessory.
Just tell them you had some "Butt-Huggers" on, the phone in your pocket

The only problem is it isn't cheap to buy out of a contract to start up a new one just for a free phone. It would cost me almost $300 dollars to do that. I would just get the insurance destroy the phone, and get a new one for $50!
