I am gonna order a 2700mah battery pack, but I don't want to spend a ton on a peak charger, so I was wondering if this is a good one

Also, at what rate should I charge a nimh pack at, and how long should it take to charge?
Hi, I think for the money you would be better investing in a little better one like this.

You willl have more control over the chargers amps, voltages and peak cutoff. Another reason I would buy the paranha is that you can charge 1 cell (Glow starter)and 8 cell (transmiter) and everything in between.

You can safely charge NiMH 1.5 ma(mili amps) X Capasity.. 2700 mah. X 1.5ma = 4050 ma. Or 4 amps.
Time should be around 45 min. If you recharged at 2.7 amps, that should take about an hour. 2700mah = 2.7amp per hour.
Heat will be the real factor in how fast you can charge them. You dont want the packs to be hot hot when peaked, just a little hotter than warm. If that makes any sense.

I was just reading on another forum that if you charge them at over 1amp it could kill the cells/blow up the pack, is that true? I think I may go with that charger.

Since its a peak charger, couldn't I just set it at 1amp to be safe, and let it go over night.
i use that charger on all my batteries. works great and does the job. I have also charged my battery at 1.5 amps several times and my battery never even got warm. I only did that in rush situations tho. If you charged it at 1 amp it will only take about 1 hour maybe hour and a half. No need to let it go overnight.
Most sub c sized batterys can handle some juice. If you are getting smaller batteries like for a reciever pack or transmitter AA sized then less is better. Most electric racers will charge there 3300 or 3600 NiMh packs at 5 amps. Like I said before if you cant hold em in your hands they are too hot. Lower the amps.

Here something for you. If you charge them fast, they will have more punch but die off quicker. Charge them slower and they will keep a longer more consistant charge. Thats why I sugested the charger I did so you can have more options for charging. You can quick charge and trickle charge. Adjust peak sensitivity. And the amount of cells you can charge.
I just had my uncle do a buy it now on an auction for a 2700mah receiver pack from OnlyBatteryPacks
i have a couple of those packs. they keep a charge for a long time!!
the prophet is more for a stick pack. i picked up a "ice" charger. it is sweet!! i had rx packs that i thought were dead, ran a cycle on them and now they hold a charge perfectly!!
so you like that ice charger? Is there anyway to make it ac convertable?
get a power supply
thats what i did. i picked one up from radio shack for $25.
got a link for it?
I've used the prophet plus for over a year now. For the price, i'm not complaining. Next for me is one that charges LI-PO packs.
I also use the pirhana digital peak charger. Works great and it's not too much money.
