i dunno, i talked to my friend who's a mechanic and he said mazda's are easy to work on. maybe "junk" but relatively easy to work on. still thinking VW. It's a tossup though. feel free to hate me for whatever i like.
A vw which is the furtherest from easy too work on... buy an american made car for your 1st car or a Japanese made car.... They both are cheaper matinence wise...
Chrysler Tow and Country, has leather, seats 7, and will hold enough RC stuff to last a lifetime. I wish my 1st car would have been somthing like this.Ya can get ones with a TV, DVD, Playstation ect.

thats what i currently drive (moms car) 2002 Chrysler Town and Country, no DVD but power everything otherwise. yeah i can fit a ton of stuff in it but i want something thats fun to drive. i wanna get a camaro/firebird.mustang but parents are 100% against it so... thats ticking me off.

unless someone's got an offer of a different vehicle that is under what i'm looking for (specifically meeting my parents requests) then i'm more or less out of ideas.

As much as I like my VW (And VW in general) Rocco is right.
Here's a couple off turbododge.com
1st is a Dodge Rampage, didn't see a price, but tricked out totally!

2nd is a GLH Omni kick a$$ car for $3000, killer deal for what's done to it along with the paint alone on the car! Oh yeah and it's a 4dr too!!

Joey- there's more than enough places to get parts for any turbo dodge's, not a lot in the junkyards but anything you need for one ya can find on turbododge, com!!!
I'm all for free stickers to support my buds and their biz. Send some my way, for my rc and amy 1:1 also.

PS. I'll be at the IN race this weekendConfusedalute:
wrong thread?

the hardest part is finding something that has 2 airbags for that price. and that has some options for modifications.
4cyl Mustang.
Mid 90's civic that was well maintained yet possibly high mileage is what I'd shoot for if I was you.

My next car will be a Civic and will be left stock, they are just to easy to maintain, cheap, and reliable. It's a no brainer.

I have a 2000 Jetta with 145,000 miles, well maintained and is a total POS, breaks down all the time.

My wife has a 2000 civic, we never maintained it cept changing the oil, it has 130,000 miles and totally rocks! never had one problem, EVER. Great gas mileage as well.
yup a civic is a great starter car and they last forever
yeah, and based on what i just called the insurance company if i'm insured on any vehicle in the 1990's our premium will go down, which is always good to hear. so as long as its a little older of a car my parents are saving money.
Convince them to let you buy a thirdgen F-body (82-92 Camaro/Firebird). You can get them with a V6 so your parents and the insurance company will be happy. Then once you gain your parents trust, drop a 305/350 TPI motor into it. Very fun, cheap cars, and great to learn on.

A 4-cylinder fox-body mustang is also an option, but they were ungodly slow. At least if you get a 2.8/3.1 third gen, they aren't too terrible. Oh, and I have a 3.4 laying around you could drop right in in place of the 2.8/3.1 Smile
they said no to all camaros/firebirds/mustangs and the sort. even to a V6 model. so i'm still on the lookout for something good.

the part thats holding me back from getting alot of different cars is that they have to have dual airbags, so even if i was able to convince them to let me get a camaro i beleive it was 92 that they first had dual airbags. so it would have to be at least a 92.
Yeah I know you said that already. My mom didn't like the idea at first either. Had to convince her that the 305 cars were slow Big Grin Oh, and 92's didn't get dual airbags either, oops. Actually the only third gens that got even one airbag were either 90-92 or 91-92, I don't remember exactly. Guess I forgot about that requirement when I suggested them.

Its going to be hard to get a decent car under $2k with two air bags that's decent to look at and moddable Sad Most cars didn't have dual air bags til '95 or so.

before you cry"the price is more than 2G" hes looking for 3 but needs to sell asap. im sure you can cut a deal.
price is flexible, i just have about 2g to work with right now so it would take more time to get up 3g. or some fast talking.
