i cant keep it idleing it just dies im not sure what the problem is it was running good then whenever i hit the breaks or slow down to a stop it would die. oh well time for a new engine any ideas its for a 1/10 truck
goat 585 has 2 hpi 12s for $75
Check your clutch and clutch bell bearings. If they hang up, it's just like snubbing the flywheel to a stop.
Also check your idle. It might be too low.
ill look into that
im going to tear the truck apart tommarow. i took it apart last night and rebuilt it and i went to test ti and the problems happend
maybe the engine isnt sealed correctly could that be a problem also
Make sure everything is tight on the engine. Tighten down the head bolts in start pattern so they all get tightened evenly. Check the back plate and carb sinch bolt.
If you rebuilt it, then that means that you just need to put the trim for your throttle servo so it won't move the carb when you hit the brakes, then you will need to turn your idle up on the carb.

well you get the cookie when i put the clutch nut on i used threadlock and it seeped out and on the the bearings and the bell housing. who knows what breaks down threadlock and also when i got the nut off i destroyed the collet on the shaft so now i need to get everything that is stuck together apart and try it again.

im still going to order an extra motor i think there is more to it than what i just found
thanks guys i got everything freed up and now it runs decent i need to figure out why it runs so hot im in the 240-270 range and when i richen it up it still is hot
Do you have a vent hole cut in the body? Geared to low?
You buy this motor from Mikey? Wink
lol
Why not bring your car up to Cary Illinois and Ill help fix it?
240-270 is ok

What king of crank shaft does your truck run? threaded crank (little stubby) or a longer pilot (SG) shaft?
270 is totally fine... maybe a bit warm for a .12 tho on the other hand.
its the standard shaft its not the cut standard its the long threaded. but not the sg.
