So whats up all. My name is Rob, and im an alcoholic.....oops, wrong site!!! lol
Anyways, most of my life Ive had a fascination with r/c cars which made christmas easy for my parents. I remember my very 1st car...THE DAMN THING HAD A CORD GOIN FROM THE CONTROLLER TO THE CAR!!!
Unfortunatley, i was never able to get anything super fast or cool until last fall.
So, I did what any self respecting American would do!!! I bought the fastest and sexiest r/c car I could find.
Funny part is, the guys at the r/c dealer warned me that this thing was way outta my league. HA, I said!! " I can handle this thing, no problemo".
So, got it home and set everything up, charged this, filled that...you know.
I decide...ITS TIME!!!
I take the thing outside, follow all the break in instructions to the tee...after all i did flip some coin on this thing.
Now, im ready for some high speed passes, right?? WRONG!!!
I put this thing on the street (industrial park where i stnut my motorcycle), point it in the right direction, and ease on the throttle. Everything is goin great...Until.....just before second gear kicks in i smack the throttle to the fullest...umm yeah, all of a sudden im thinkin of the salesman at Al's hobby warning, "this car is way outta your league". DOH!! Long story short, steering sesitivity and high speeds and stupidity put the car into a concrete parking block at about 50-60mph!!! TELL YA WHAT....THAT CAR WENT FLYIN IN BOUT 6 DIFFERENT DRECTIONS!!! AND IT WAS THE COOLEST LOOKIN CRASH IVE EVER SEEN NEXT TO NASCAR.
So, i pick up what i can find is left of the car and go back to als....
Spend 3 hours puttin her back together and all is good right!! WRONG!!!
10 MINS LATER.....GUESS WHERE IM OFF TOO...YUP...ALS!!!
Since having the car in the late fall 06, Ive 2hrs fixing the car for every 1hr drivin, yeah im a noob.
Most of my problem is that this car is crazy fast and im runnin it in an area that is fine for it if your a pro...which im not.
So, yesturday i prep it for some runs and, of couse i make my way back to als, and i start bullshitten with savyboy bout gettin involved other r/c peeps and he told me bout this. So yeah, my name is rob and im a noob.
Hope to meet yall at Busse Bash this sunday!:joy:
oh yeah, the car is a traxxas nitro 4-tec 3.3 4-wheel drive

yes, that's quite a fast ride for someone who is not fully in control..haha 0-70mph in about 3 seconds.
Hello and welcome

thats what makes it fun....errrrr...expensive!!! lol
LOL, I made the same mistake as a noob!!! First car was a nitro 4-tec(2.5 not 3.3) thing was wicked fast but really hard to control! Now I stick with off-road, not as fast but a lot harder to break and can do more!

Welcome to the boards!
Welcome.

stick a chunk of rubber hose over the trigger so it only pulls about 50% throttle until you get more used to it.
yeah....im really lookin for a truck now but im doin my homework. i need something fun but also need it to be able to take some abuse.
good suggestion Dave!...if he had a better radio he could adj. the end points but teh stock traxxas radios are not the best in fact I wouldnt want to trust a 27 mhz am radio with a 70 mph rocket lol...deff. up grade to a better radio when u can Rob
anything 1/8 can usually take abuse and be very fun...rember EVERYTHING can break no matter the brand or model.
