Going out tomorrow to pick up a new mp3 player. Basically just looking for your guys opinions on which ones are good. I'm up in the air between the creative labs zen vision M and the 30 gb ipod video. I'm open to any others though.

Requirements are 30gb or more, and price range is $200-$275
I have the 80 gig Ipod. I have not had any problems with it. I like it alot, but the only thing I don't really like is getting videos on there, takes a while, but the quality is great.
Tommy, I had the older Creative MP3 player, which worked great, but in my needs for more storage, I went with the new Ipod video. I am VERY pleased with the new Ipod. The one thing that kept me from getting an Ipod earlier, was that I-Tunes will auto sync with the pod every time you hook it up. This isn't a problem, if you are going to keep a backup of all your music on your computer. The only problem this would bring up, is if your computer crashed, you would lose all your backups, and the next time you hooked up the ipod, it would delete all your music. There is a program called "Copy Pod", which will allow you to copy all your music from your ipod, onto your hard drive, in the event of a computer crash (This has saved me...)

What format are you using for Video? Are you converting from DVD, or using existing .avi's? The conversion is the only slow part. Once the video is converted to MP4, the transfer is pretty quick.

Someone was telling me the other day that I-tunes no longer deletes the music from the ipod if it is not present on the computer.

My problem is I have never really liked apple, but for the money they seem to be the best.
i would say ipod just for the simple fact that you have unlimited options as far as accessories, sites and personalization options. Plus you know everyone has one(except meSad ) so for the most part you know it reliable. just my $0.02.

Thats pretty much what I've settled on. That and the fact that Frys has them on sale for $240. I'm just trying to weight my options.

Anyone played with the microsoft Zune?
You can set Itunes to not Auto Sync, but in the event of a PC failure, when you hook the ipod up to the computer, it will show a message that says Itunes isn't set up with this ipod, do you want to set up itunes to work with this ipod. If you click yes, it reformats the ipod, removing everything, and replacing it with what is in your itunes (Which is nothing, if you had a computer crash). The program CopyPod works great in this situation. It allows you to Copy everything from your Ipod, either to your Hard drive, or into Itunes, saving all your music. It may sound like a lot of extra work, but it isn't that bad.

All this said, I would suggest the Ipod. I was also against the whole Ipod thing in the begining too, but like Hoobajoob said, you can get Ipod Accesories ANYWHERE, with the other MP3 players, the accesories are very limited.

I will say, STAY AWAY FROM ZUNE!!!!! There is a feature in Zune, that any DL'd music, that doen't have a license, will disappear after a few days. This also goes for any music that you share among other Zune users. I though the "Infared port" on the Zune was a great feature till I heard about the 3-4 day limit.
I read about the limit, I thought it only went for music you got from other zunes! If it's all unlicense music that dissapears I would be screwed!
Me too... I have about 4000 songs and 5 movies on my ipod. Maybe about 1/3 of that music is "Mine"... lol
I would go with the creative because I'm sick of ipod everything, I have a creative with 8gb of storage and have never had a problem with it
I have a creative 512mb and love it! So simple to use and set up.

But I went out today and got the 30gb video Ipod. So far I like it, except for the fact that my puter has slow azz usb's!!!! Taking forever to do 5000 songs!

I have a zune. 27.7GB. I like it. Video, pictures, and music. Can't complain.

I don't know what is considered unlicensed songs, but I got all my music from lime wire. If you get a song from another zune device wirelessly, you can only listen to it I think 3 times.
Ok need some help. Is T-tunes capable of finding all the correct music info? If so HOW?!!?!?!?!?!
If there is a way, I haven't found it yet.
