Not sure about their reasoning but yes, you can use a tennis ball to open locks on *some* older cars.

Screw the tennis ball if I got the jaws of life on the truck!!!!!!
Nice dent around the lock !

Wait...This is a trick by Team Dent Tek to get people to dent their own cars so they can fix them!

Don't fall for it.

we are forgetting one thing here guys.....inorder to move the locking mech in the door you have to TURN the key! Looks to me like its bogus. BUT if that chickie in the vid would still like to come over and try it on my car im all for it!:leghump:

KMA you literal bastage!!
LoL!

... Im waiting for Czech to chime in with his normal response of "Fire Nerd". LOLOLOL!!!
Kinda like asking me a bowling question huh!
Yup!
I seen that video and another one about unlocking your car.

Say you have a remote opener thing and you and someone else (someone at your home with a remote for you car) have cell phones, you just call the person at the house and while once the call is picked up you can unlock the car through the cell phone air waves. I will see if I can find the video.
fire nerd......there happy? lol

lmfao that is about retarded
let's think about the key fob -cell phone myth.

The key fob uses RF to transmit to the car. The output of a phone is audio waves not radio waves. How could it possibly work??? The car has a RX, not an "ear".
The cell phone thing is bogus - its not the sound of the remote, but the radio signal that works, and it cannot be transmitted over a phone.

But some cars - older cars - used a vaccuum based mechanism to work the locks, like my wife's older Mazda 626, and that trick could work on it. Heck it used to go off randomly some times.
I worked at a volkswagon dealer a few years back and they also had vacuum actuated locks. It was a pain in the ass when they developed a leak.
But there is no way in hell that the tennis ball trick would work. The cylinder still needs to be turned. Once turned it will open all the doors.
An old "repo" friend had an easier one...but it's not for use on your own car...

Get a straight blade screwdriver, with a square drive shank, like most Craftsman tools. Stick it into the lock. Grab the square shank with a cresent wrench or vise grips, and turn the whole lock cylinder. Inside the door there is just a metal clip holding the lock assembly to the sheet metal of the door. Th clip pops or bends and the whole lock rotates as if the key is turning just the inside cylinder of the lock. The door opens, but now the lock will be loose in the door and require repair, but in an emergency, you could get in the car this way.
Daves plan will work, but you damage the sheet metal tabs that hold the lock assembly in the door & will most likely wreck the spring clip & most definatley ruin the lock assembly.
Between the cost of the lock & bodywork...replacing the window would be cheaper!!

I can't belive that the tennis ball thing would ever work.

Causes major headaches...but if it's "Not your car" wink, wink.....this opens it quietly, quickly, and from a distance looks like you are using a key (versus a slimjim, etc.)
Old Carlos Mencia joke.

"I walked out of a mall and a guy came up to me and asked me if, because I was mexican if I could get his keys out of his locked car." I told him sure, all mexicans know how to break into cars. So we went to his car, I picked up a rock and smashed his window.
