hello all.

I was at the track last night checking out the electric racing. I am thinking of getting back in the hobby as the latest brushless/lipo technology has peaked my interest. The last time I raced rc the rc10 was king and the "new" team losi jrx2! was the new threat. Yeah, it's been awhile. Anyway, I was looking around and noticed nobody was running this new setup. Is it allowed at LHR?

Great track, long drive from Elgin though.
new threat lol I still drive my jrxt man it's indestructable.
Welcome to the boards
e man,
Sounds like my story. I used to live in Elgin back when I parted with my RC10 Worlds. I was almost ready to think about going nitro just to be able to run with everybody, but I really don't love nitro, then I learned about the advances in the electric and went the LiPo brushless way. I would call the track and ask about it.
Bob,

Are you running electric up at LHR? I am trying to like Nitro also, but its just a pain in the butt sometimes while electric is quick, quiet and not a mess! Nobody really has been able to tell me what classes really run at LHR...I just get it takes 5 to make a class kinda answer.
moliver,

I plan to run. I just got nack in, and am getting set up. Actually, I am set up just now, and will be stopping by for practice this Saturday the 10th. FWIW, I got a Losi xxx4, which "could" run a LiPo pretty easily and comply with the RcPro rules (but not yet the ROAR rules).
I also wanted to run in my backyard (which is a small farm), and I thought nitro would be a bit disturbing to the peace. As well, it would be tempting to do 1/18th in my barn, and would be tempting to build a 1/10 electric fun track in my yard (open to advice on that idea). Because of where I live, I also have checked out a track (RC Performance & Hobbies) in Madison, which allows LiPo/brushless.
What I hear runs at LHR is nitro, then for electric it is 19 turn truck, but that is just second-hand news.
Leisure hours does not allow lipo's. They go by ROAR rules even for club races.
I don't understand why not. It seems like a no-brainer to switch over to new and improved technology. Technology which will help bring in new racers with the ease of use with this combo.
No more lugging around matched batteries and maintenance equipment(besides a charger) for the batteries and the motor.
All I know is it is just because they follow ROAR rules. I was reading on the LHR forums. Someone asked the same question. Personally, I don't see why it would matter for club races.

I agree... There are guys running lipo in 4wd, and I don't think its an issue at all. Lipo has not proven to be an unfair advantage even in 19 turn truck. But, if you have them, then why not run them? one battery for the whole evening, that's good stuff...

ROAR rules are not followed for 19turn motors. Technically, the only true roar-approved 19 turn motors that are currently produced are the komodo and the chameleon 2. So, the checkpoint money and reedy 19t are illegal, but those are the motors that most people run. I doubt that this will change. I know I wont show up if only komodos and c2s are allowed, because I hate both.
Well, it looks like a track needs to be built in the Elgin area! I was going to to AJ's to practice with my touring car but took a long time off due to work and now that I am getting the itch again I find out that the only thing that seems to be going on is offroad. Driving to Joliet from Gilberts is a real pain. As I really want to get back to R/C again should I make the switch to offroad and sell my Xray or is there some tracks that I am just not finding? Thanks in adavance for the advice.
Leisure hours has an on-road course in the summer.
