Full Version: Which 550 motors for a bump box?

I just had one of the motors in my OFNA box go out. I ran some tests and turns out one of the motors died.

They are 550 motors, but I am not sure which one to get. I got the box 2nd hand so don't know which ones to go for? I assume they are probably 27 turn stockers for the torque to turn the engine over.

Anyone have any recomendations? I'll probably replace both at the same time. Possible to convert to a motor with a larger can?
Which ofna box is it?
I don't remember. Its a narrow box, meant to run off 2 6 cell packs.

I would assume all 550 motors would mount the same.

Not sure if its exactly the same, but it looks like this one and says truestart on front.

I noticed it says that box is for a 1/10 scale on/off road, no mention of 1/8th. Doesn't seem to have any problems starting my OS 30 though. Cept for on those 15* days when it sits in the trunk for 2 hours. Then I have to heat it up with a hair dryer or heat gun.
I think I remember someone saying the ones from the emaxx would work
The 12t titans? I guess they would. I wonder if my 12v starter motor would work. I have one that I got for free, if I can mount it and get it set in the box right it would solve cold starting issues.

I think it may be too tall to sit in the box correctly.
I'm considering buying a different box that uses a larger 750, or 12v motor. Would make the cold starts easier.
yeah I have the ofna chrome top with the big motor and 12v gell cell, it will start anything
the emaxx motors work, the standard titans
These are very similar to the TItans. I used them in one of my E-Maxxs as a fater of fact. I highly recommend them.

Or for even more power:

mugen box with two emaxx motors shouldnt have a problem starting witht that lol
And at those prices you can't go wrong giving them a try!
Thats what I thought too. I actually bought them for my son's Power Wheels jeep, but the e-maxx needed them first. I could not tell the difference in performance with the motors in the first link. I have not tested the ones in the second link.

BTW thats my review in the link too.
