i have a semi crazy idea, and it needs a small dirtbike or motorcycle engine, looking to get one for pretty cheap, i was wondering and ay of you guys knew anyone that might have one for sale, or know where i could get one.
lets just say im thinking about a gas powered powerwheels. as a budget winter project...possibly a powerwheels drifter. (if i can get enough power to the rear end.)
just for fun. figured id ask.
maybe a go kart engine if someone has one of those, but i was thinking itd be easier to get a dirtbike/motorcycle engine, a small one. maybe a really small kids size quad or dirtbike engine.
any ideas are appreciated.
lawn mower motor would prolly e easiest
I got a 49cc pocket bike that I'd let go of for $150. Motor runs perfect Got upgraded exhaust and carb but the carb isn't on it. Does about 35 with my 165 pound azz on it so it could probably move a powerwheels. Comes complete(entire bike in 1 piece) although the wiring for the motor could use a little fixing up. Traded for it about a year ago and rode it about 4 times since then because I have been trying to fix the wiring and I got it running and just haven't used it. Lmk willing to trade to.
just hook a 12v car batt up tp it

Not at all.... lawnmowers are vertical shaft motors and what would be easiest for him would be a horizontal shaft. Saves a lot of problems when you can run a straight chain drive.
yea, thats exactly why im staying away from the lawnmower, everyone says lawnmower but they clearly dont know anything, a snowblower would probably be easier.
squirrel- can you get me some specs/pics on the motor and the rest of the bike to
[email protected] ? very interested. need anything in a trade? lmk. otherwise VERY interested and if i can come up with 150 bucks id buy it. i just gotta get a bit mroe info on it. should be a go if i can get the money.
Thanks
John
there is a such thing as a horizontal shaft lawnmower motor its what i had on my mini bike
good luck with the gears on the powerwheels holding up, people were having problems with them when over powering them...
Unless your making steel gears and a steel gearbox
yea im probably gonna try and find a cheaper stronger axle, just do a spur on the shaft with a chain. i dont think it will be that hard but its all an idea.
check out the mamba max 4600 powered powerwheels escalde on youtube
yea i saw it on BYT, pretty sweet, but i dont have like 600 just for electronics.
