Thanks
I have a couple friends who work at just tires. Let me see if I can do anything.

I just checked they are not discontinued, but they make the 520 for the chain stores. are version is advan s4. uhpas.
I didnt realize tires could look gay on an economy family car....LOL

I was searching tire rack and found Kumho Ecsta ASX, anyone heard anything on these. They are cheaper...
those are a (w speed rating)
what is W, sorry I just know tires are round and black.

Here is my car. 2005 mazda 3S 5dr with the TPMS

I currently have GY RSA's they came on the car and they suck big time, my rear wheel cars had better handling then my front wheel car now does with the rsa's...

W = Whoa! You shoudn't be drivin' like that in a family car! :p:
Lmao!!
tirerack.com has all the speed ratings on it
I can get you the hankook ventus spt 70.00 each
I had one of those last weekend & she only charged me $50 Big Grin
i thought she said it was to compensate for the smaller tire? LOL
:o:
George, i just picked up a set of these for my SVT Focus as the GY Eagle F1 are crap in the snow. I couldnt even drive my car in the snow last year cuz the tires suk in it. These have some great ratings.

Put some 40's on there and ditch the 50's, you aint rollin no Iroc-z anymore. Wink
you said Iroc Z.. Funy thing was I had a formula 350 and a camaro....LOL
While it's more appealing to the eye to have a shorter sidewall (getting a 40 instead of the 50), the tire also become smaller in diameter in the process. Your speedo will be off because of it, the higher the speed, the more inaccurate it becomes.
The car drives maybe 10 miles a day, while its a cool looking car to me, and a limited run of a vehicle,(1 of 3650 made, #589 actually made, and 1 of 679 auto hatchbacks made.) Lets be real its still an economy car. The rsa's that where put on it by Mazda suck royally. There is no need for a z rated rsa that sucks in the snow not to mention the rain. I have the safety of my daughter to consider. They are below the tread wear marker and I just turned 17K.

SO I am considering, thread wear, road noise and wet, snowy conditions. After reading hundreds of reviews the Yokohama's seem to be leading right now.
I used to sell tires at Discount Tire back in the day...lol
I would just stick to the stock size if you can.
The 50 number is the sidewall height with a 40 being a shorter side wall.
As Im sure you know, the shorter sidewall will give you a sportier ride, but you'll feel the cracks in the road more then you would with the 50's.
That, and like Tune said it will through your speedo off just a hair.

The Yokohama would be a good tire, but Im not sure how good.
Michelin tires are real nice too.

I would stay away from Kumho's though, their just cheap tires that dont hold up and will get noisy on you after some miles.
I know of people that were not happy after putting some miles on them.

Oh and yeah, the GY RSA's ®eally (S)uck (A)$$ lol
too many auto makers put them on as standard too Rolleyes
Thanks guys
Yo JT...
I have had about 8 total of the conti extreme contacts on my cobra. They hook up well in the snow and seem to wear well.... The ones on my front wheels lasted about 37k but are balder sh!t now... the rears never lasted more than 15 to 18k but im sure thats my due to my need to tip the throttle alittle tooo much.

The only problem with those tires and its a well known thing is they will flat spot overnight ,,,,, so for the first 5 to 10 mins you have a rather bumpy ride. Some days are worse than others and other days it doesnt happen. Its not a biggy for a tire that performs as well as it does.

(btw... Dont expect to be divin down on-ramps like you could with your other conti's, the dont have the corner speed like those)
I had Yokohama YK420's on my Jetta as my last set of tires...they sucked as far as traction goes and they wore really fast (I had the pressure right the whole time)

My new set is Kumho Ecsta ASX and I can't say anything bad about them. They are wearing way better than the yok's and grip 10X's better. I paid $323 for all 4 installed at Discount tire. 195.15.65's

They do however have more road noise than the yok's but it's not that bad, I've noticed it a few times at most and only on certain roads.

George, did you read all the reviews on discounttire.com? read up if you haven't, you'll get tons of personal experiences on any tire you want.
Yeah Rocco i hear on that. I did my home work and read the reviews and they were excellent. They are perfect for the winter weather, as soon as the summer hits the F1's go back on. I bought the tires from tirerack for $86, then went to discount(they wanted $120) had them install them and they since the tires were brand new they offered me road hazzard insurance on the set, any probs and they will take care of it. Good deal right there.
