I hope it's resting until winter, because our Revo is more race ready than the ST1 at the moment!
Hahaha.... I think it will pick up a bit with indoor season, but I think it has definitely slowed down. With all of the new UMT's that have come out people want the "faster better handling brutes". I think what SMT needs is actually another very competative monster truck to come out. Something that was strong out of the box for racing or bashing like the revo but with a large afrermarket following. (Losi, AE, or HPI needs to make a race truck IMO.)
Isn't that what the Revo3.3 was intended to be? The next big MT?
It wasn't a big enough change from the 2.5. All of the true racers had already hopped up their revos and had them running very competative. The new 3.3 just made it a little easier for people to jump right into racing. I think an entire new truck is needed, even if Traxxas makes it.
I'm thinking its dieing. Sad
i think itll kick back up

+1, I think MT's are really fun. I might even buy a warhead from Honda.
I'll be honest.... I loved racing my revo, and did quite well when I did for the most part. The LSP was more fun to race though. If I am going to race one class now it would be UMT or scale. If I were to race two it would be both of those. SMT would only be picked up as a third option for the most part if everything else was running well.

Same with me. MT's are fun to bash, fun to race, but buggies and UMT are faster and more competetive.
I hope it does. I mean the TNX is the next thing to the revo it seems at the big races. I have been told the past 2-3 months that MT is dead and I needed to step up and get a truggy.

I can see that MT is dead at LHR. But at my old track,we had about 4-12 MT's on race night. With 4-5 being regulars during the winter months.
I hope the class comes alive. I would hate to have to semi-retire the revo due to the lack of a class.

But how long is it going to be until the bashers get bored with their MT and get a UMT? Then what.
Again.... it needs another new truck to compete against. If a new truck comes out people WILL buy it and consequently want to race it.

The thing is, truggs cost ALOT more from what I've seen than MT's.
But look at the trend. HPI came out with their UMT,although they called it a MT at the start. I honestly dont see traxxas doing it all over again like the revo. I would put money on they will bring a UMT type truck to the table.

Now either it be from the ground up. Or a one off of the revo is anybodies guess.

I know of atleast 4 RTR UMT's out right now around or just above the price of the revo 3.3
Ponch Wrote:+1, mainly because the fast guys got sick of the 'bashers' on the track that see MT as a fun way to join R/C.
The fast guys went to buggy & truggy to race where the bashers wouldn't be in the way...Then they all sell there M/T's and race buggy & truggy....Rolleyes

It's already happening....
sorry but what is umt? I personally like mt's the best. My first rc car was a t-maxx and I still have one. I think one reason they are dying is because of the acceleration and wow factor of the buggys and truggys. I myself never liked buggys until I seen them run. Now I want one too.(thanks ponch lol). I think most people associate mt's with bashing.

Ok then,so what is the plan now? People left MT because of them. Now they have them again in those other two classes.
Do you sit there and say 'oh well'? Or is it worth going back to MT?
They will most likely switch to gas truck (2wd 1/10th)

I personally wanted to run M/T...bought a couple of really nice truggies to race UMT/AT but realized at my current skill level I would be in the way...sold them and was content on trying to run M/T...only to find out everyone else dumped M/T and now with the small turnout for M/T they run both classses together anyway.
well i would be willing to race mt also if we could get enough people to make a class instead of with the truggies...

CRT rtr is affordable and good! My TTR was affordable RTR.

Addicted, UMT=Unlimited Monster Truck = truggy. I believe it is also referred to as Arena Truck, AT.
MT was big when the T Maxx came out then died down, then then revo came out and gave the class a shot in the arm but it looks like its dieing out again , guess a new truck needs to come out.

Jerry, I too want to give GT a try, and have the RC10GT ready for it. I'll have to get ot practice over the holidays when the kids are out of school. Idea Hey, that reminds me, is anything going on with the Holiday Pizza Party? I'll bring that thread back up so we don't get hijacked here. Anyway, GT is very cool IMO because they are tougher to control, but because they are smaller, they fit on the track indoors better than MT and Truggy. We'll see how bad I can break one before we decide if it's the class to run. I'm sure eventually we will get the TTR ST1 up to spec and get out there with it.
I always wanted to give 1/10 a try too. I had a FT RC10GT, but never raced it. It is definitely all about throttle control. What I don't like is how you really can't come up short on any jump as they are no where near as tough as the otehr race vehicles. (And I know, it forces you to become a better driver, but it is a downside to me.)
i don't think it's dying, but thats because all that i have is a revo Smile
i just think that there aren't enough MT drivers in the Chicago area for it to be really good.
