Get an eel! The best of both worlds!
Except it would die if I took it out to pet it. LoL (How's it doing??)
He's alive! Woot!

My filter system crapped out today. Had to buy a whole new one, it has some extra special filter that is supposed to do something with the levels of something...I forget lol

I just took this picture of my brain coral, my ribbon eel, and my new arrow crab all in one incredible picture. I can't beleive how close the arrow crab is willing to get to the eel!
Yes, I know the brain is on it's side. It fell over earlier when I was cleaning, and I have since put it back into position.
Haha, your brain fell over....

I had no idea how much saltwater stock my local fish shop has. I probably hung around and talked with them for about an hour and a half yesterday. I want one. They said after Thanksgiving everything goes 20% off and that they could probably work a little more on the price with me If I get everything from them.... Time to think.
That is a good thing.
Glad you took the time.
Please please be very wise about this.
Do not be impulsive and secondly keep in mind--they are a business and will sell you what they think you need with massive mark up and inferior product most of the time.

You can do much better in research on ReefCentral.com
Take you time and don't just purchase--you will regreat it trust me.

After being out of the hobby for many years I got back into it and was taken with equipment which ended up being POS stuff. I ended up replacing(90%) lots of stuff and did better this way. Also you can get better stuff for the same cost or a lil bit higher. You will find after you get experience this is typical of anewbie experience.

Please support the LFS when you need stuff in a pinch or for salt and stuff.
The rest you can do mail order and you will get better deals.
One of my clients listened to everythign I said to do and she is glad she did and I helped with a large discount for her large order.

Go to Reefcentral---nobody has a thing to gain there in helping you.
The LFS has everything to gain and bills to pay. They see a newbie and Cha Ching and dollar signs light up.
On RC some will just give you stuff to get you going. TTTM is a member there now.
Here is a good tip in buying livestock at your LFS.

find what you want.
watch it for a while
Come back the next day
then come back again.

Each time you are looking for it eating and behavior as well as if there are any possibilities of disease and parasites.
Personally I would rather see the fish in the store for a couple weeks---if it is still there I will come back to buy it. Then I know it is healthy.
Exactly. One of my friends families is part owner of the place I believe. They seemed pretty up front about everything. I was basically hanging out listening to other reef owners and just kind of soaking it all up. Lots of information there.
Yeah, reef central is great.
I got all of my corals from people there, except the brain coral.
It really is a great asset to the reef community
2 of my fish had fish...2 of the bigger guppies, I guess I have 2 female and 1 male, well the male is a pretty slick fello..haha.

I have like 15-20 fish now. Most of the babies are around 1 cm long, theres probably 7-11 of those, and 2 bigger ones probably 1.5cm long.
Your tank is now overstocked. LoL
Yeah, I know, I just don't want to put some of them in my sisters tank until they're a bit older and can survive the move.
More than half of them will probably get eaten.
Sad thing, ain't it.
make sure u get pics of that!
Yes and no. Guppies breed all the time and have a lot babies every time.
who cares they are fish they die u flush em not like u paid alot of money for them, now the expensive ones thats a different story

I remember when I had my African Ciclid(sp) I couldn't wait for it to grow. Finally it got big enough and I fed it small feeder fish. It would swim around the tank with a tail hanging out of it's mouth.
