lol that sounds stupid huh. how do you get more little green dots under your name? some people with like 3000 posts have like 10 but some with 5000 posts have 2? I don't know I'm just dumb and tired and it's making me curious and it's off topic lol

Those are rep points ... If somone likes or dislikes what you said in a post they can click on the little star that appers under your avatar to give you positive rep or they can choose to give you negative rep by clicking disagree

Yes and no on the popularity thing. I think that moderators end up getting more since they resolve problems. The person on the good end usually reps.... a lot of times good comments or help given by others goes un-rewarded. I really don't worry about them though. As long as there is no red. LoL
They are there to show someone that you appreciate what they said, or you agree, or it helped you.
As said, you can also turn it around and give out negative rep if someone is giving out bogus info (facual bogus info, not just your opinion) or any other thing that may have effected you in a bad way, like name calling.
Do NOT give out negative rep unless you are absolutely sure the receiving end deserves it. If you like the Sox and they like the Cubs, that is by no means a reason to dish out neg. rep.
