hey guys i need your help will a traxxas 2.5 crank fit into a 2.5R just need to know
thanksConfusedalute:
Yes.
Yes will fit. They are identical engines, 2.5R has a machined head vs. cast as the std. 2.5 other than that they are the same.
how hard is it to change out a crank? Anyone have any directions?
Thoroughly clean the motor's outside first so no crap gets in.

Next, take off the head.
Stick a folded over zip tie into the exhaust port, and rotate the flywheel. It should make the sleeve pop up some. Take a flat screwdriver and carefully pry the sleeve out.
Take off the backplate.
Now, take a pair of tweezers or pliers and GENTLY pull on the bottom of the con rod so that it pops off the crankshaft. Be sure to note the direction of the cutout on the piston, it must be re-installed this way or it'll run like chit! (I did it before lol)
Pull the piston out the top of the case.
Now take off the CB, the shoes, and the flywheel and brass cone.
Push on the crankshaft from the front of the case and it should push right out the back of the engine.
Put in the new crankshaft with some ARO on it, and reinstall everything in reverse order again.
cutout on the piston?
any torgue specs? on the backplate or head?
can I reuse the headgasket?

Yes, when you take out the piston you'll see what I mean.
One side is like [ ] and the other side is like [n]

Tighten the head bolts in a star shaped pattern. Tighten the backplate screws like top left, bottom right, top right, bottom left.
Yes you can reuse the head gasket.
ok thanks
lets see if I can screw this up lol
thanks you guys are so much help
