Where were you 5 years ago on Sept. 11th, 2001?

I was at the orthodontist, getting my braces, and remember the radio was interupted for the news about what had happened.
working in rockford while my wife was working in a high rise downtown. they stoped work in the plant i was working at to call everyone into there luch room to watch it on tv.
School.
i just got to school when i heard what happened
Walking down the hall of Troy Crossroads, just got off the bus. 9:48 am according to the clock. 5th grade.
Sitting in class. (Actually chilling on a couch..... that class was sweet.) We heard it on the radio and then turned on a tv.....
sitting in reading class in 7th grade, when another teacher ran in and said a plane just flew into a building so we turned on the tv
On my way to work when the first plane hit, and at work when the second hit. Thanks goodness we where quite at work so watched the TV all day at work in disbelief. Then went to my fiance's (now wife) house and we went to church ( not the most church going people) but felt we needed to.

Then I signed up for the disaster relief (as a FD we help in disaster relief like this) but fortunately Illinois was never called up due to the lack of bodies recovered.

Its truely a day that I will never forget, I asume its like my mom can remember where they where when JFK was assinated.

GOD BLESS THE USA!!!
I was watching Tv getting dress to go to School(Depaul). I saw the second plane hit the tower live.
eating toaster strudels on the way out the door to school. (6th Grade)
I had just got home from work to see the first tower smoking. A few minutes later, I saw the second plane fly into the building.

Even after working 3rd shift, I did not sleep at all that day. All I watched was the news, till it was time to go to work again that night.
Doing my inbreifing at Ft.Riley KS when the first one hit by the time the second one hit I was getting issued my weapon and rounds to be put on access control points for people gettin onto the base. WOW that was a long night.
At work...The shop stopped working and we all sat int he waiting room watching TV.
I was at school, I was called down to the office to get picked up along with about 60 other kids and I had no clue what was going on, we just got home when the second tower got hit.
i know my dad had to do alot of stuff at work (fire department) to be prepared for any thing else.like anything in chicago and stuff.
Sitting at work listening to mancow. He stopped his program and reported everything as it happened for the next 20-30 minutes or so. We pretty much stopped working and crank up the radio to listen.
I was working on a bridge in Brookfield when the Boss pulled up and told us what was going on. Went to my dads house for lunch and seen what happened on the TV. Azzhole boss wanted us to get back to work. Very sad day.
Heard the first reports when I was in the car heading into work. Then saw the rest of the morning unfold watching the TV in the conference room. At about 10:00am I went home to get the VCR recording as much of histroy taped as I could. I'm so glad I did, because the kids will never see the images from that day on TV because our media is controlled by people who hide everything.

Terrible things happened that day five years ago. Those are the facts. People jumped from buildings to escape being burned alive. That is the reality. The thousands of lives lost REALLY HAPPENED.

The tapes I have will serve as my reminders of why we continue to chase the SOB behind it five years after the fact.
I just finished up a 7:45am follow up call with one of our customers from work (Downtown Chi), I was on my way into the office on I290 (toward Elmhurst) and I heard something really weird going on on the radio. I got to work and saw what was happening on the break room TV. Horrific and sad day.

They were replaying some of the 911 calls this morning on the radio on my way into work today. I swear I had a couple tears fall.
How could you not cry at some of the tapes?

At a ceremony this morning they were reading the names of the fallen at Ground Zero, and I tuned in right when the two women doint the reading read off the names of their own husbands, and added personal comments about how much they are missed. Only a cold heart wouldn't be touched.

I don't know how they kept it together, knowing that as they read the list, their own husbands names were coming up to be read. I would have needed tranq's.
I was at work (social services) preparing for a group session. I jery rigged a tv antenna so we could see what was happening. It was like watching a movie. Just unreal. Saw the second plane crash and just gaped. Watching something like the towers fall was like witnessing the moon drop out of the sky and splash into the Lake. I just could not believe it, but there it was. I remember feeling just sick to my stomach.
A guy posted this on the grid, not sure where else to put it so Ihtought here...

Its amazes me that with all that technology, firepower and the man power of some great men and women(in link george just posted) that 5 years later Osama still walks this planet.... That to me is a huge injustice to all that were affected directly 5 years ago today....

I was at work and a had a guy start that very day that this all happened, i had just become the foreman at the company i work at a few months earlier if not for those two factors i would have drove to ground zero to help out however i could... Looking back now i wish i would have chose to go instead of staying here.....

I remember the feeling of helplessness, rage and anger that someone had attacked the country i loved and used innocent lives to do it...

I work in st.charles about 6 blocks from Dupage airport Though its a small airport its the 3rd busiest in ill. I remember standing outside and not seeing one plane.... Not a cesna, or a circling 747 waiting to land at ohare... It was so erie.... Then i heard a distant rumble which quickly became a shake wihin me , it was an f16, it came blasting outta the north screaming southward... Thats when i realized just how close to home and how unprepaired and unsure "they" were of what was going on.....
Here's a couple more....
