i bought 2 sets of komoto dragon II that are med/soft. i got home and read the tire glueing 101 thread ( VERY NICELY DONE ) and i saw he was using pre molded foam and i was starting to prep my tires and the foam fit really crappy, what do you guys do? what foam and so on do you guys recomend?

I would go to your local autozone and buy some SLIME to fill them up with so they dont leak air.

Run the stock white foams the tires come with. A softer tire will make the car much easier to drive outdoors. I only run molded foams indoors because it's usually a very smooth surface.

i am glad he typed it twice cause i didnt understand him the 1st time
i was thinking of cutting the inside on a 45 with a razor blade, cause the foam pushes the tire out and it doesnt seat well....
after you type your post at the end you have to put

You will get this answer a few more times....just stuff the whole thing in there, as it breaks down over time, and the stiff tire will become softer eventually. I trim the foam (inner) edge that is against the wheel, to allow a little more room for the bead, but's that's me. Once the tire is properly glued up, it will be fine. Use rubber bands to compress the tire onto the wheel when glueing them on.

I try to trim down the inner foam bead also. Makes it easier when it is time to glue. I also use super thin glue that basicly sets in 5sec or less. One downside to that I have found out is there is not going to be alot of glue holding that tire on. Yes it is glued down all the way around. But seeing it is a thin glue. The amount that is there to hold the tire is thin also. After some good hard races. They need to be checked and reglued if needed. But not always. The set I have on my revo right now are about 2 months old and have held up against indoor racing twice and outdoor once and are still holding.
Just remember to take your time. This is not something that you can rushed. You can rush it,but I wouldnt be expecting great results if you just run right through it all. So take your time,do it right the first time and they(tires and rims) should last awhile.
ofna yellow or orange molded foams are good and are cheap also. Proline Medium glue is probly the best i have ever used
I use proline medium, it's ok and bonds well but takes awhile to dry
i like thin, except when i use too much and glue my fingers to the tire.
I use Losi medium, which after a year in the bottle is more like thick!

It was a video of a LHS and the 16-17 year old kid that worked in there was doing up some tires for someone and squirted it right in his eye.
NEVER look into a CA bottle and squeeze. lol
I have a wonderful tool...a very thin metal wire with a chuck/handle that I use to unclog nozzles and bottles like CA.

Max, you should send that tip into the magazines!! Never heard that one before.
Has anyone tried using double sided carpet tape on the wheel to keep the foams from shifting around?
