I'm tuning up the xxx-nt from it's dust death last year. I am finally going to get around to racing this year. My brother and I have been souping our trucks up. He has a rc10gt he likes Associated stuff I like Losi stuff. We have never actually drove our trucks around the dirt track yet. Everytime we go it rains or rained the day before. So what are some good tires to pick for aj's? I bought some losi I2000 tires for the rear and losi directional ribs for the front is this a good combo? My brother is looking to buy proline edge tires for the front and proline snake eyes for the back. What do you guys run?
We don't run at AJ's so I have no idea what tire works the best out there. We can tell you anything you want to know about Leisure. Smile
There's a couple guys that go to leisure on Saturdays for MT races during the cold months. If I remember, I will try to ask them what tires the Stadium trucks seem to be having good luck with there...
But the dirt at AJ's is completely different than Leisure so you wouldn't use the same tire. Loose outdoor track at Aj's if i'm correct and Leisure is tacky clay, BIG difference.

At Leisure ST guys run Losi pink taper pins or c-compound Panther tires. The "C" stands for clay so it won't work at an outdoor track. (unless it's clay which they won't do outdoor track with clay because it'll retain too much water)
I should have been a bit more descriptive.... Kris, the other guy with the LST and XB8, and his friends, usually run at AJ's through the summer. I will ask them what tires people run at AJ's on their Stadium Trucks....
Aj's track is hard packed dirt with loomy layer on top. He never waters it, he puts Sodium Chloride on it to keep the dust down (doesn't work to well) In my opinion the track has fell into disrepair. They was a rut in the back corner on a turn that has been there for 2 years. Its a real shame could be a real nice facility. On my trucks I ran bow ties which ran well there.
Yeah I know what you mean about the lack of repair thing. There is weeds growing in the middle of the track. Water drainage cracks on everything and like you said there is tons of ruts. The owner guy must not like water. I went there when it was just barely damp from the light rain the the night before and he would not let me run on it. I saw the trucks kicking up dust on my first visit so thats kind of what I figured it was a bumpy, dusty course. However this is the closest track to me at a little over 60 miles. I heard the the Rockford park district was going to put a r/c dirt track in. From what I heard they got approval for the land. My LHS started the idea last summer but I have heard nothing about it thus far.
