Hi guys I got a couple q's.
First off let me say that I am pretty new to the whole rc hobby maybe a year in. I have a T-maxx w/force .15 bb, A nitro Evader st stock .18, Mrp outrageous drag boat w/ 19t mod motor and novak esc, and now a losi jrx-t. My q's are I picked up a reedy 9t motor thats like new. I put it in with my novak and it runs for like 15 sec and quits. Pretty sure esc's not powerfull enough for it. what is a good cheap esc for this motor? Also how do I run for more than 4 freakin minuits. I have 1500 batts. How much more will I get if i get some 3300 or 3800's? Finally as you cam tell I'm going pretty cheap with my stuff. I buy stock replacements when I break. I'm saving my money for a zenoah powered 50" forabuck Project. I like to drive my stuff but this electric stuff is really frying me. lol
Any help would be appreciated also if you got something I need let me know
Thanks
9t you are going to need a high end esc. one thats made for brushed/brushless that has no motor limit. i recomend the novak

you can check e-bay to see if you can get a deal

and def a bigger bat. 3600- 3800will do
wow those are more than I paid for the whole truck.
This is gonna suck
Any recomendations on a fast ass motor that I could use with a 15 turn esc?
Trinity Cobalt motors get good reviews but be prepared, good motors aren't cheap either.
Hey bud, I got a brand new, never seen a charge 3600 nimh pack. Yours for $15 shipped.
sold
You could also go with the Novak Super rooster ESC. It also has no motor limit. Generally, when buying an ESC, get a lower motor limit than you plan to use. IF using a 9t motor, you would probably have to get a "No limit" ESC.
15T Trinity Speed Gem "Titanite" rips for a 15T motor
ok I picked up 2 3600 batts now i just gotta get a charger mine is old school and only does nicad lol this is getting deep now
also whats the diffrence when they say single, double, triple wind?
AddictedtoNITRO Wrote:also whats the diffrence when they say single, double, triple wind?

Forgot what it actually meant but it has to deal with torque. The more winds the more torque. If somebody says they have a 12x2 motor, that means a 12 turn, 2 wind motor.
Good article about motor winds in one of the two mags I get this month (XRC or RCCA). It's how many strands of wire are wound around the armature, and how many times. I'll see if I can find the info online and link to it.
thanks maybe if i understand this stuff more i'll be better at making them

thanks lots of good info in there guess I should look harder.
revo2k, you got that bassackwards......the lower the turn, the more power and the lower the wind the more torque you have.

so a 12x3 will be faster than a 15x1 but the 15x1 will have more torque
actually a 15x1 will not have more torque than a 12x3 a 12 is still a 12, 15 still a 15 but a 15x1 against a 15x3 the 15x1 will have more torque but the 15x3 will have more top end and be easier to drive.
I was on the right path ....lol
yep kinda.lol
ok thanks for the info I actually found out the mortor is a 15t triple so thats pretty good for speed bashing right? My esc will handle to a 15t so it will work but gets hot pretty fast can't do back to back or it twitches is this normal?
did you gear down for the lower wind motor? if not than that could be your problem also a lower wind motor will get hotter faster than a stock motor aka 27t
A 12X2 would be it takes the armeture 12 rotations in the can to make the rear wheels to turn 360 deg 2 times if I remember correctly.

As far as motors go I would strongly suggest looking into a 19t, they are very strong motors and will give you good run time on some 3600's most likely a little over 6 1/2 min depending on how old the cells are and how many times the have been cycled.

For gearing if you just went and picked up a 18, 19 and 20 tooth pinion gear you should be set for just about anything, as far as bashin with it the motor wont be a silly fast one but it will be a safe good reliable motor that you wont have to worry about the brush going bad after 25 runs or so and the arm will stay nice and tru.

um no a 12x2 actually means the wire goes twelve times around the armeture segment with 2 strands of wire
No your kidding ghosty, yes I do know that sorry I was thinking of rollout its been a few years since I had to think of electric stuff.

So for all of us that need a little refresher here is a nice little thing I found about electric motors.
