Now that he has 3 Daytona 500's, is Jeff G the real deal, or was today lucky?
Your thoughts....
Those are nice flames, though....
Jeff drove really well today. I think he's the real deal.

Lots of bumping and rubbing in that last lap. Really exciting!

Good Race.

That was the kind of race that can make even a non-racefan person a Nascar fan. Talk about bashing!! Man ! And when that tire came off and caused a wreck, it looked like one of my tire-glue jobs! I hope somebody at Goodyear loses their job over that one.

I did hate to see so many guys wrecked by just being caught in tight spots, but I guess That's Racin'.

Holy crap. You don't even know how right you are.

I'm not a racing fan. There was just nothing else on today
so I watched the race just to see what my brother in law
finds so exciting about it. I have to admit I guess I'm a fan now.

LOL

Im not that into Nascar, But i know one thing. I dont like that little weezle, He's good but i dont like him.
Gordon wins more races by luck than skill. Dale Jr had the lead when Kasey Kahne went into the wall, and they waited for Gordon to squeek past before they threw the yellow flag... They then fring it down to 2 laps before they "Stopped" the lap count.... It takes almost 2 full laps to get the car up to full speed, which doesn't leave much "Skill" involved for a 2 lap finish... If they would have stopped the lap count at 5, and he would have kept the lead, I would consider it a "Skilled win"...

When Jr was sitting 23rd, they interviewed his pit manager... He said Dale is happy with the car, and they aren't worried.... In a matter of 4-5 laps, he had the lead... That is skilled driving..... I've seen a few races where Jr will "fall back" in the last 50 laps... He finds a comfort zone till he is ready to make his move... usually around the 15 lap mark, he starts walking through everyone to a top 5 or better finish.
maybe jr. used the glitch b gone spray on his radio :p
i didnt know so many of you were into nascar. maybe my datona party will be a little bigger next year.
I usually don't watch NASCAR and the race sunday reminded me why. NASCAR on the oval tracks look like a COPS police chase marathon... all they do is PIT maneuver eachother off the track to make a pass. I just don't see how running the guy in front of you off the track is "good" racing or makes any driver good at anyhitng other than being a hack.
Six, I think what we see at Daytona is a result of restrictor plate racing. Everyone in the race could make more HP and go a whole lot faster without it, and the race would be a lot more spread out. When they limit the car, they force the drivers to make adjustments in order to get to the front, like agressive drafting and wrecking the other guy. When everyone is running good, the cars are too alike for simple passes, and the Line forms. The frustration builds and when time runs low, BAM, the leader is on his roof.

I did learn a new term for hacking on Sunday, bump-drafting!! Try that excuse in the real world: "No officer, I didn't rearend him, I was just bump drafting."
I can see your point but even without the restrictor plates and they are spread out they still do a lot of raming and bumping eachother off the track on purpose. I'm just not a fan at all of nascar. I watch too much SCCA, WRC, F1, and Prototype racing and was really into AutoX for a time with my old camaro. Racing is soo much more exciting with left turns, right trurns, and racing even if its raining.

COULDNT OF SAID IT BETTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WRC and GT syle racing is soooooo much more entertaining to watch! Right on Six!!!! Cool
I like it when the nascar series goes to Watkins glen. That track is awesome.

I really like rally, NHRA, F1 racing. Nascar is like baseball to me, booorrring.

Hey Firesprink, I love parties though so don't cut me out just because I'm not the biggest fan! Big Grin

One of the funniest things I've read in a while!! Big Grin
If I have made someone smile today, my day was not a waste.
I know of a cool church parking lot in Naperville that we bashed at a couple years ago. It was fun. Plus we could duke it out nascar style in the lot because it's a big oval.

We should meet up there this spring sometime.

Six, you remember it?

Wink
you got it! next year theyre talking about going prime time. late start, 5pm!! thats going to suck for the party.
and newguy, thanks for sticking around and helping clean up!!
The old Lucent buildings off Warrenville road, north of I88, west of Naperville road are HUGE. They do have some loose rocks, and a few cracks and bumps, but overall they're not too bad. And BIG. The worst part of it is the traffic on I88 drowns out the sound of your car and it's hard to hear what your engine is doing. Otherwise, pretty good spot.

Good Shepard church on 75th, just west of Washington (about a mile) is a real smooth lot, but the parish meets like all the time and you can rarely get the lot 100% empty, but it too is a pure top speed oval setup.
i run my on-road at the ibew hall at 115th and ridgland. its perfect!! wide open and flat.

Not a problem.... Thanks for inviting me. One of these days we'll have to have a small get-together at your house, and help you get rid of some of that extra Beer... Smile

Don't let the Sprinkler fitters know you are spending time at a different Union Hall...
Tex Wrote:Six, you remember it?

yeah I remember it.. that was the day the kid brought out an OFNA GTP and ran the engine at 500+ deg F with only FWD. that was a fun lot except it was a bit slick.
tell me about it!! you left the bud, my dad left the sam adams, and glen and his dad only had 2 cans of mgd out of that whole case!!! we'll just have to keep paco out of the ps races!!
hmmmmmm, 1st last week 30th this week. Its alll luck!
