I'm having problems with the shifting of my transmission. It won't shit into 2nd gear for some reason. i have tried the adjustment screw at the top of the trans but that didn't work. i put the forward only kit into it and since then it won't shift into 2nd gear. has anyone else had any problems with this thing. i talked to hobbie town in naperville he said that all of the revos he has in for repair are there for the same reason. can someone help me out with this thing, i'm so fustrated at this point.
Are you sure your not stuck in second and it wont go into first?? That is what usually happens....
positive. it takes off really good.
What motor is in your revo? Is it the 3.3 or some other high power motor? Even just starting off directly in second, it has the power to take off real good.
It could already be in second gear if not its probly the shifting clutch thats bad. Those are only 10 bucks and I would replace that. 5390 is the part number. Ive had those go out before so its most likely the problem if you've adjusted the shift point every which way.
the rb 323 motor .23
You are probably stuck in second. That thing is a power house. It will STILL take off great if you are stuck in second.
yep and i have tightened the spur gear for the sliper clutch so it dosen't slip at all. is the clutch your talking about in the trans or the one on the motor. this is my 1st nitro and i used to run electric back in the late 80 and technology is so much different so bare with me if i sound like an idiot. i'm still learning on these nitros.
should i just leave it alone or should i change the whole trans? will it burn up the motor quicker?
i would replace it, they put 2 gears on there for a reason, you don't have to buy a whole new trans though, just buy whatever broke.
thats the problem i have no clue what broke. could take that trans apart and look at it and be dumb founded by all the parts in that thing.

Looks like the same part to me. LOL!
thanks. you guys are helping me out alot. i want to get this thing to the track i just don't want to with it running only in 2nd. heck it might be fun that way. maybe this weekend.
this is on the outside of the trans correct?
sry I had my reply open and then went off and found the part. Didnt realize you posted it.

Tab that goes inside the trans. If you look in your manual that came with the book it gives you exploded views on how the entire truck goes together. Its really the easiest nitro mt to work on.

:p:
thanks. i will get that clutch this weekend and try it out.
I bet you need to turn your high speed needle clockwise (leaner) what temp is the motor running at?
Did anyone ask....is the Revo new, or used....was it shifting before the FOC?

And, don't leave that slipper locked down for racing.....get it adjusted right.....
You can leave it locked down. From day one my slipper has been 100% locked down and I rarely if ever break any gears. It was just at the cure race that my original trans finally gave up. That was like 2 years, 8 motors, dozens of gallons later.
Around 200 Is When I Last Checked. I Should Check It Again.
It's A Year Old. It Was Shifting Before I Put The Forward Only Kit In.
lean the high speed needle about 1/4th of a turn and then try again. Temps shouldnt get above 240 if its running at 200 now and my needle change.
