As some of you know my dad owns I-55 Auto Salvage in Channahon, he recently got a 2000 Acura Integra. I was looking into possibly fixing it up, it needs a little bit of work but not too bad. I was down there today and it runs great, I was driving it around and nothing is wrong, everything is cosmetic so far. It is black, it needs a hood, front bumper rear bumper, 1 head light, 2 tail lights, rear bumber and a rear quarter panel. He should have the lights in stock, and possibly the body parts too, even though they might be a different color. That shouldn't be that bad, and as long as the paint guy can match it with the rest of the car. Some of the other body parts have a little dings and stuff like that, but it can either be removed or I can just leave them for a while. It will be my first car, and it will be better than the 95 Yukon that I am supposed to be getting. The motor and drivetrain seem to be fine, it has a Honda motor in it (for those that don't know, Acura is made by Honda) Honda motors are really good and last pretty much for ever. It has a stick (which I have no problem driving, Racin' Ranger1 is a different story. LOL) There are only two drawbacks that I can see, 1. it is front wheel drive, 2 it is a Honda. He can probally get the car for close to nothing, about $400 and like I said the only damage is cosmetic, so do you think I should go for it?
As a first car, I would say go for it. Especially if your dad has parts available at the Salvage. IF there is a mechanic that works there, have him check out the frame. There is a possiblity that the reason it is being released to a Salvage, is possible frame damage. If there is no frame damage, take it. It may not look the best, but if it gets you where you want to go, it is well worth it.

On another note, I couldn't remember who it was that had family in the Salvage business. Could you have your dad check to see if he has a working Left side Headlight motor for a 1990 Ford Probe? Thanks.
I'll have him check tomorrow, I'll let you know, there isn't a mechanic but they all know alot about cars and stuff, my uncle and cousin that work there are always building something, right now one is just about done with a 77 Camaro. I think I am going to take the car, when I drove it the trans shitfed fine and stuff, motor isn't acting weird or anything, no check engine light, or anything, it has good oil pressure it only has like 71,000 on the motor, that is like nothing on a Honda motor. I forgot to add it may need a new airfilter too, but that is no big deal at all. I think me and Racin' Ranger would probally do all of the work ourselves this summer, since it isnt anything that is dealing with the drivetrain or anything. It has nice leather interior and a pretty nice radio (just need to figure out how to unlock it) I think I will tell my dad that I will have to take it.
If you want to give them a call tomorrow their # is (815)467-2938, ask for Dan and tell him that Kyle gave you the # if they have it he may give you a little bit of a discount, I'm not sure if they have it, but you can give them a call.
No one else has anything to say?
Sounds like a pretty good deal. I just traded in my 2001 civic with 110K on it and never had it in for service once. I would just make sure there is no frame damage and why it was being salvaged before you buy it....
Yeah, I probally won't buy it lol, my dad will probally just grab it. It's kinda a long story, one guy bought it after he got it towed in, (it was an arresst and the guy just never came to get it or something. He was going to fix it up and sell it, but he tried to do something with the insurence or something and they were giving him a hard time or something so he just sold it as is. I am going down tomorrow to take it out and have my dad look over everything, and make sure everything is good, the ABS light came on today, but I don't think that is a big deal the sensor just probally got wet or something (puddles are fun) so I'm not worried about that, but I'll have him and my uncle and cousin look over it for me.
the only thing that u cant just unbolt and rebolt is the rear quarter...its a uni-body car so that will need to be pulled then be filled with bondo
Bottle are you sure it is? Damn, I didn't think it was, I didn't really notice though, if it is I will just get everything else fixed and then have a freind of my dad's friend do it.
