Ok guys. I have been looking all day to find some poles for the lights outside. I need eight poles 40 foot above ground. so if it's a telephone pole it would have to have 8 foot in the ground so it would be a 48 foot pole. I can use a steel pole. concrete in the ground and bolt the pole on top. or a tv antenna tower. I feel it should be 40 foot to keep the bugs out of our hair. so if you can help please do. Thanks
I'll keep my eyes and ears open
I found this place but they are in Texas. http://www.americanpoleandtimber.com/
Try calling the utility company they may have old poles laying around.
There's a bunch with lights allready installed down the highway lol....Go grab some of those!
I see a pile off Butterfield Road, east of RT53 by that golf course.....

I don't think that was helpfull... but it made me laugh! :joy:
you shoulds think about the sports lighting poles..............................http://www.valmont.com/asp/poles/poles2.shtml

give them a call at: (402)-359-2201

they dont seem to have an online store.
I was looking for something in the area. a new 48 foot pole is 834 dollars and to have it shiped from Texas is another 350 dollars. utility (com ed ) will not sell to me. Dave, can you check on the ones you saw?
Bernie, I will look there today on my way to work and see if I see a name on the yard. If they are used surplus, perhaps they would be willing to part with them just to clean up the place! I'll PM you later.
Oh, and a dumb question.... do they ALL need to be that height? Could some of the ones away from the stand be shorter? Can you use short ones if we find them? If so, what is the minimum height wanted?
Thanks Dave
I wouldn't do this for just anybody...you know that, right Big Grin

How are you feeling these days? Better I hope!
I feel great Dave. just have to let my chest bone heal. should be back next week on light duty.
Glad to hear it!

They were gone! Let's keep looking.

I understand that telephone poles are grown very widely on tree farms in WI. maybe we can go straight to the grower?

Is anyone else having a problem getting on this site? I keep getting.... site not responding... the last two days.
Dave I would use some shorter ones. But I feel it would take a 40 foot pole to keep the bugs out of our hair.
